116. All Saints: Choose a saint and create a poem about his or her life.

So I'm not Catholic, and the only saint I know much of anything about is...

St. Patrick

By the coast where the leaves

Of grass and sand meet

Where the water laps gently

At youthful, smooth feet

There lived a boy of a name

To be St. Patty dear

To hearken to fame

To be honored through years

Yet before the good

Must always come the bad

So the famous man learned

When just a wee lad

Captured and taken

He left his home

Taken and forsaken

Left all alone

On a slave ship bound

For coasts unheard

Young Patrick found

And the hard way learned

He was beaten, he was bruised

He was called into shame

He was felt his hope begin to lose

Every time he carried the blame

Yet one day the docked

Their boat sailed on sand

And Patrick stepped on the port

Of a place called Ireland
