St. Patrick
By the coast where the leaves
Of grass and sand meet
Where the water laps gently
At youthful, smooth feet
There lived a boy of a name
To be St. Patty dear
To hearken to fame
To be honored through years
Yet before the good
Must always come the bad
So the famous man learned
When just a wee lad
Captured and taken
He left his home
Taken and forsaken
Left all alone
On a slave ship bound
For coasts unheard
Young Patrick found
And the hard way learned
He was beaten, he was bruised
He was called into shame
He was felt his hope begin to lose
Every time he carried the blame
Yet one day the docked
Their boat sailed on sand
And Patrick stepped on the port
Of a place called Ireland
