A New Beginning

Gone

It's was morning and I wake up on the couch, "What the- oh yea" I forgot that I let Tracy and Katrina sleep in my room since I had the biggest bed besides Mr.Judo had one but was old so he needed his comfort. I walked up stairs and slowly opened the door to check on them and they were both asleep, Tracy was making Katrina cold and Katrina was making Tracy hot yet they were still hugging while sleeping.

I walked down stairs to start making food since it was my turn, What should I make for breakfast? I'll make- Tyler walks in "Hey Tyler your actually up early."

"Shut up" He looks at me and sees that I don't know what to make. "Your stumped" he looks at me and then the inside of the fridge. I look at him and say "Yea, what do you think I should make?" He looked at me and said, "Well not anything to big but, pancakes, french toast, hash browns, eggs, ham."

He stops to take a big breath and before he starts up again I said, "Whoa whoa, I'm not IHOP just something simple" He looks at me a bit disappointed and says, "Okay then just make pancakes."I go out the eggs bacon and pretty much all the materials to make pancakes, eggs and bacon.

As I was finishing up the bacon I could hear Janice talking to Kat coming downstairs, Kat looked at the food that was already set up on the table and said, "Ooh, bacon" she chose her plate and took a slice of bacon and ate it.

"This is really good," Janice says as she sits down while already eating the bacon. After the smell of bacon filled the house everyone was pretty much eating. I later see Katrina and Lucy come in and then they quietly sit down and start eating, I walk up to them both and say, "C'mon don't be shy were all nice people."

They look at each other and back at me and Katrina says, "We know, it's just hard to take in that all this is real." Tracy looks at me and nods her head with her mouth stuffed with pancakes. I laughed a bit and walked up to Janice and said, "Do you think we could help them with their powers?"

She stopped eating and said, "Yea, but the real question is what do we do after?"

"Do we let them stay?"

"That's their choice, plus it looks like they are doing fine on their own." She said then started to continue eating. After an hour or so me, Tracy and Katrina were in our underground training area. I looked at Tracy and said, "Tracy do you want to be able to fully control your powers?" She nodded her head up and down.

I smiled and said, "Good now since your power is ice it's the same as mine." I got a glass of water and placed it on the floor. I looked at it and by moving my finger I lifted the water out of the glass and swung it around like a flag.

Both Katrina and Tracy looked at the water with amazement, I then said "Now I know you can only freeze things, but that means you can control water as a liquid too, now concentrate on it" I passed it to her and she held her hands out in a cup formation.

I slowly started to let go of the water and she caught some while spilling some. "Hey, don't try to look at it like you need to contain it but as an infinite wave" she kept staring at the water and said, "Okay" she slowly separated her hands and the water started to stretch out. The water started to slow down and turn into a slushy like form. I looked at her and said, "Hey, concentrate" she dropped it and it broke into little pieces. "It's difficult" she looked down and had a frown on her face.

"Tracy just because it fell doesn't mean it's gone nor is it wasted, feel the water around you and gather it up to where you feel it's enough" she lifted her hand and moved her wrist in a circular formation and you could see little water vapor gathering up around her and the spill she made before slowly gather up to her hand.

"Whoa" Katrina said staring at the water, I looked at Tracy and smiled, "Cool huh, now gather up all the water you can and slowly freeze it into snow," she looked at me and nodded yes. She closed her eyes and then you could feel the air get dry and see balls of water gather up all around her and float around her like stars.

I looked at her and I saw something I didn't expect, her hair was slowly turning light blue from her scalp. As it got close to the end it started turning blue, but before it could Tracy ran out of energy and let go it the water and her hair color reversed back to chestnut brown. I put my hand on her shoulder and said, "That's enough you can rest now, just keep practicing later"

It was Katrina's turn now and her power is, more simple but just as hard to control. I look and Katrina and say "Katrina, I also have your same power" I got out a candle and replaced it from the cup. I started to enlarge the fire and said, "See this is much more easy to explain but just as hard to do,"

She looked at the flame and asked, "How is it growing without you burning anything," I looked at her and said "See that's the thing, don't see fire as something that can only live by burning things" she looked at it completely confused.

"I'm controlling fire right now, and people with powers exist, the logic you know doesn't apply here nor does it really exist." I lifted the fire from the candle so it was floating just above my palm. "Fire is not just a weapon, not just heat that hurts people, it's light, it's warmth" I let go of the fire which burned out and disappeared.

"Katrina, for Tracy's powers she gathers whats around her but for you, it's inside you" she looked at the candle and back at me. "I know it's cliche but I'm serious, but feel the heat inside you, and imagine it gathering up into your hand"

You could see her close her eyes and have her left hand hold the wrist of her right, the veins of her right hand started glowing bright red and orange and going from her arm to her hand. A light started forming above her hand, it started growing and became a ball of flame, it started going a bit wild so I said "Concentrate, imagine a calm fire like when your camping out."

She nodded her head and the fire became calm and looked really beautiful, "Good now try opening your eyes and see what you created" she slowly started opening her eyes and was amazed but lost her concentration. She looked at me and said, "I can't focus enough with them open"

I nodded my head and said "Okay, so now you can try to-" she stopped me and asked, "Why are you teaching us?" I wasn't surprised she would ask, so I answered, "So you can help keep people safe from others who use their powers for their own desires."

Her and Tracy looked at each other with a concerning look, "Okay Fire and Ice we will continue practicing tomorrow." they both agreed and went back upstairs to rest. As I was getting out Janice was waiting for me outside, "How did it go Alex?"

"Pretty good, they learned it faster than me,"

"Well you had no one to teach you"

"Yea" The next morning I heard Tyler run into the living room and wake me up saying, "Alex, Alex wake up, it's Katrina and Tracy" I got up instantly and said, "What about them?!" Tyler took me to my room and opened the room and said, "There gone" I looked into the room and all their belongings and themselves were gone.
