Ok, so, you're about to get a bit more info on Sam's life. This will explain why, in the first book, she froze that time in the alleyway, when Steve came to save her... if any of you remember that...
But here's a head's up; it's not nice. So don't complain to me if you don't like that I brought it in here.
But here's chapter four.
Also, on a lighter note, prepare for a Clint monologue :D
Enjoy! :)

Sam
I groaned and opened my eyes, my head pounding. I squinted against the bright lights, momentarily dazed, as my eyes adjusted slowly to my surroundings. I was in a recovery room, a drip attached to my arm, and a warm blanket wrapped around me. I blinked and rubbed my eyes, propping myself up on my elbow. I looked around the room, momentarily confused, before everything came back to me. Alex had attacked, I had almost lost it, and almost blown everyone’s brains across the walls. I shuddered at the memory.
I tore the needle from my hand, and threw off the sheets, sitting up, to be hit by a wave of dizziness. I sighed heavily, and pushed myself off the bed. I stood up and stumbled forward, putting my hand on the wall to steady myself. I waited for the dizziness to subside, before I straightened up slowly. I grabbed my cardigan and put it on as I made my way out of the recovery room, feeling like I was doing an impromptu impression of ET’s walk. But I was too out of it to do anything about it.
I shuffled towards the boardroom quietly, pretty much unnoticed. As I neared, I began to hear voices inside, talking. I stopped for a second, listening.
‘But what was that noise? I think that we’ve all underestimated just how powerful they both are. Maybe that was what happens when their powers collide over long distances. We can’t pit them against each other over a short range, we don’t know what they’re capable of.’ Someone said, and I stepped into the room, wincing at the brighter lights.
‘Well to be honest, I don’t have a clue either.’ I said, and they all gasped, turning around to face me. ‘What? You all thought that I’d slip into a coma again? I think that we’ve established that I’m stronger than that.’ I grumbled, walking over to an empty seat, and sitting down, just as my legs went weak beneath me. I put my head in my hands, groaning, before looking up at them through my fingers. I sighed, and pushed my hair back, off my face and looked at them.
‘A high-pitched frequency emittion. That’s what the squeal was. Just be thankful it wasn’t a shockwave.’ I told them, sighing, and pulling my cardigan tighter around me as I shivered.
‘I’m sorry, a shockwave?’ Nick asked. I looked up and nodded solemnly. I sighed, licked my dry lips and straightened up slightly.
‘I guess, if I’m going to explain any of this, I have to start from the beginning. But I’m going to say this now, so you all have time to accept it and let it sink in;’ I began leaning forward and resting my elbows on the table.
‘I am immeasurably grateful for everything that you all have done for me over the past two years, but I’m going to return the favour, and I don’t want any arguments over it. I’m going after Alex alone. I’m not having you all killed for me. You can stay by my side for now, but as soon as I give the word, you all have to promise me that you’ll step back and let this end the way it must. Clear?’ I told them, not giving them much choice. Tony sat up, frowning at me.
