One day I woke up in Hell. It was beautiful and peaceful, but Hell nonetheless. So it wasn't technically Hell, but it was an impossibility. I woke up in the world of Naruto with my best friend's little sisters. I was so confused you couldn't even call it confusion. I went from "What the hell?" to "Well, there's nothing I can do about it," in a matter of minutes.
"Oh my god, Etsuko, can you believe this?" Maeko asked in utter excitement as we started down the path. Etsuko wasn't really my name; well it is now because Maeko (Amy) insisted. She changed all our names and after a long argument about how we were going to tell people we knew each other, she pinned us with "Inoue" as a surname. We decided to tell people we were sisters.
"I'm not even going to think about how absurdly impossible this is." I informed her crankily. She loved Naruto. Maeko and Chiya were infatuated with it before this happened. That was why they dyed their hair pink. Maeko's was short and darker and Chiya's was light and also short. My relatively long light brown was perfectly satisfying.
"Hey!" Maeko reached to her forehead and ran her fingers over the music note on her headband. She must have felt what it was. "Sweet! I was experimented on by Orochimaru!" I really wanted to hit her for that one. I had been obsessed with Naruto way back when, so I could still remember quite a bit about it.
"When is it ever good to be experimented on, Maeko?" I yelled at her, nearly stopping in the middle of the dusty path. She ignored me entirely and looked to Chiya.
"Cool, Chiya's from Konoha." I was almost surprised she didn't add "gakure" to sound like the obsessed geek that she was. Next she looked at me and did in fact stop walking. "Oh my..." She trailed off like she didn't know how to end the sentence.
"Oh!" Chiya exclaimed and then sneezed, taking all the seriousness out of the moment.
"Etsuko, you're from Yugakure! It was a war torn county in between Konohagakure and Otogakure. During the war they evacuated to get away from the Akatsuki. You probably grew up with Hidan!" Maeko said in excitement.
"How would I have grown up with someone I didn't grow up in the same world as?"I questioned her.
"Well, you have the headband don't you?"Chiya pointed out.
"This doesn't make a damn bit of sense." I grumbled and started walking again. "We're going to Konoha, Oto, and Yu in order to figure this shit out, understood?" I proposed angrily.
"Yes, Etsuko-chan!" Maeko agreed.
"Hey, I deserve more respect than that." I informed her sharply. Sure, I was being a bit unfair, but my rank needed to be understood. I wasn't going to deal with Maeko's defiance.
"Sama or Sempai?" Chiya asked Maeko while I simply listened to their debate.
"Etsuko-sama, Etsuko-Sempai; well Sempai doesn't really make sense since she's not teaching us anything." Maeko pointed out.
"Etsuko-sama it is then!" Chiya decided excitedly. I wasn't so happy about anything. I was tired, needed a shower, and was terribly hungry. The girls didn't seem so bothered by any of that. They simply sang anime theme songs and acted like nothing was wrong.
"Hey, I wonder if we can jump into trees and stuff like that." Maeko mused aloud. Before I could tell her she was stupid she took off running, jumped, and was on a high branch of a tree. Chiya and I shared a look before going for it. We followed Maeko's lead and traveled much easier from the trees.
