That was the point at which I had had enough.

"That is it!" I slapped the money onto the table and got up. "I will not take this from you anymore, Maeko! We're going to figure out what the hell is going on here and then we're leaving! Do you understand?" I yelled at her, feeling more outraged than I had in a long time.

I took Maeko by the arm and Chiya followed as I dragged her away from the scene I had created.

We spent a week in Konoha trying to figure out Chiya's story and eventually we did. She was taken from Yugakure and adopted into a nice local family. From the sound of it she really is my sister. The story is shady though. It sounds like they were keeping her safe from something that didn't end with the war.

On our way to Otogakure terrible things started happening. People attacked us and tried to steal from us all the time. Instead of knocking them out and taking what they stole I just killed them. The first time was horrifying, but then it just became habit. It scared Chiya, but Maeko thought it was cool. She kept talking about Hidan and how I apparently acted like him except I was more serious. I had no clue what she was talking about, but I knew it was a problem.

We traveled for a month and it took much prodding to get information about Maeko. Her family hadn't been so kind. They didn't adopt her out of the kindness of their black hearts. They adopted her in order to harness her power. Of course, we could get no information on what that was. We just knew she was harshly punished and worked to the bone.

The three of us grew closer over that month. Aside from the fact that they were, Chiya and Maeko truly became my sisters. Upon knowing who they were they began remembering things about their past. They didn't remember anything from Yugakure though. They were three years old during the war so I consider that a good thing.

We came across Kusagakure, the Village Hidden in the Grass, and made ourselves happy there. We lived out of a cramped motel room. I got a job at a little restaurant and the girls spent the days doing odd jobs and making friends. They were even inducted into teams so they could train, but considering they were not of Kusagakure they couldn't go on missions with them. I was more than okay with that.

We spent two more months there and all the time, no one knew of all the people I had killed almost with my bare hands. It wasn't something we talked about.

"I'm home." I stated, not having to yell considering the size of the motel room. Chiya was on the floor reading a book and Maeko was aiming a kunai out the window. I took it from her before she could kill anyone or herself. "Can't you be good like Chiya?" I asked her, already knowing the answer.

"I brought food." I told them and got out what was theirs.

"Etsuko-sama." Chiya asked, sounding questioning. Yes, they still had to call me that. In moments of weakness they didn't and I was okay with that, but I hadn't had the chance to be their sister since I was seven. I didn't remember what it was like.

"Yes?" I responded and lifted the ramen noodles to my mouth. We practically lived off of them. Well, considering I'm twenty and had been living off of them for the past two years that was nothing new.

"Why didn't we go to Yugakure after finding out about Maeko? Don't you want to know how you lived?" She asked. I had been avoiding the question for a while.

"I know what I'm capable of Chiya. I'm afraid to know why it was necessary. Besides, something tells me that living in a war torn area isn't good for me to remember." I answered.

"But you have to know!" Maeko exclaimed. "Somewhere in there you know more about us than we do. You became a kunoichi in Yugakure so you had to have stayed after the war. You didn't evacuate like nearly everyone else. There has to be a reason for that. What if you know why we were separated? What if you know why I was adopted to harness my power and Chiya was adopted to be kept safe?" I was just waiting for it.
