I walked down the set of stairs and peeked into the room. My eyes widened and I stared at the two on the floor. It was worse than I thought. They could have been doing anything down here, but of all things it had to be that. I suppose I should have seen it coming.
"Damn it Hidan! I should kill you, you know that? And Maeko! I know you're a stupid, ignorant teenager, but do you have any clue what you've just done?" I yelled at them, not caring who I woke up in the process.
Hidan sat up, Maeko in his lap covered from head to toe in blood. She still had something through her chest. I hadn't realized until he sat up that it was through Hidan as well. That bastard turned my little sister into a Jashinist.
"She's better off this way." Hidan insisted and pulled the long, sharp object from their chests.
I laughed in disbelief and rubbed my face. "Okay, I'm not a mom. I'm a sister. It isn't my job to fix everything and be over protective. I don't set boundaries." I shook my head. "Do whatever you want Maeko, but don't come running to me when something goes wrong." I then turned around and walked to the kitchen.
I cooked and everyone came in, talking among themselves. At one point they all stopped and I had to see why. I looked over my shoulder from flipping a pancake and saw Leader and a woman, Konan, walk in. They both looked rather unpleasant.
"Pretend we're not here." Konan said and sat down next to Leader.
I went back to cooking and the conversations started up at a more cautious level. The energy in the room was uncomfortable, but no one really said anything about it. The conversations mostly revolved around weaponry and previous fights. Of course, Tobi threw in some stupid things, but he has to. He's Tobi.
"What's for breakfast?" Hidan asked as he walked into the kitchen with Maeko.
"For you, whatever is left over. I'm not feeding you." I informed him and looked at Maeko. "You either." She made an angry noise and sat down with Hidan. The two sulked before opening their mouths. I didn't quite hear what either of them said, but I knew it wasn't good. I smacked both of them with the hot, greasy spatula, gaining the room a torrent of yelling.
"I will decapitate you and hide your heads if you don't shut the hell up right now!" I hadn't really expected them to shut up, but they did.
"Etsuko...I think your anger just caught the pancakes on fire." Deidara informed me. I turned around and sure enough he was right. The two pancakes in the skillet were ablaze. I was going to dump water over them until I realized that was a disastrous idea. I grabbed a towel and smothered the fire out, all the while grumbling to myself about how I hated cooking.
It seemed like a long time before the food was done. I got everyone's plates ready, got them whatever they wanted to drink, set out things to smother the pancakes in, and finally sat down with them.
"How do you feel today Etsuko?" Kakuzu asked me. I looked up to answer, but stopped and closed my mouth. He wasn't wearing his mask. He hadn't looked like an old man before, but he certainly didn't now.
"Oh, um, I feel fine, thank you." I smiled, getting over the sudden shock and went back to picking at my food.
"You're a very good cook Etsuko." Konan said from the other side of the table, taking me by surprise.
"Thank you and I'm sorry about yesterday." I was never good at making apologies sound convincing, but I figured I should at least give it a shot.
"Don't worry about that. I was surprised by your strength. You seem to be a very worthy opponent." She dismissed which was also surprising.
I fidgeted while I ate and tried to figure out what was wrong with me. I wasn't sick. There was a distinct feeling to that and I didn't have it. Being around all these guys while wearing no pants was a little odd. That couldn't be it though. Maybe it's because I haven't killed anyone recently. Yeah, it's been about a week or so. I don't have anything to get the stress out. Wait...
