"All I know is that you're so nice.
You're the nicest thing I've seen."
As she stared at her neighbour helping the old lady living opposite her, she knew she was in love. Even though she could only admire him and his actions through her window, she somehow still managed to like him more day by day. The book slipped off her lap but she didn't know. Her usual reading session was disturbed by him. Not that she would mind. He was perfect in her imagination. In his own way of course. She would notice some flaws of him, like how he would do awkward, alien-like hands-shaking dance whenever he was in a wild mood but, that just made him more perfect to her. If that was even possible. But what attracted her to him the most was his pure heart. He gave the purest smile and laugh she had ever seen and heard. His actions were genuine, so were his words. Everything about him just made her happy. The looks were just a bonus.
When he looked up after helping the old lady, he saw her looking at him. Smiling, he gave her a friendly wave before making his way home. Thinking that she got caught, she blushed and gave a shy smile before waving back, only to get a laugh as a reply.

"I wish that we could give it a go.
See if we could be something."
Without knowing, a few months had passed since she was caught by him. Before she knew it, they were the best of friends. Surprisingly, he was the one who had started the conversation. When she was going home one day, after being fired from her job, she bumped into him. Or should I say, he was following her. See, Jungkook was making his way to a dance studio to check out this free dance class he had come across online, only to see his neighbour crying and holding onto a box while she was on her way home. He put two and two together, then ran off. She thought she scared him away, making her cry more. Her day was getting worse and she really didn't want him to see her that way. So when she opened her front door an hour later, she wouldn't have expected to see Jungkook there with a tub of ice cream, but there he was.
Since then, they had never stopped hanging out. She fell for him more, which she didn't even know she could. She didn't have to stare at him through a window now and be afraid that he would think that she's a weirdo. She didn't have to imagine how conversations would be like with him since they talk daily. She didn't have to imagine how it would be like to hug him because that's how they greet each other every morning. She was happy and elated with what they had together. But somehow, she still wished that they could be something more.

"I wish I was your favourite girl.
I wish you thought I was the reason you are in the world."
When she heard him talk about his crush over the phone, she knew she wouldn't be his favourite anymore. His crush and him met in a dance class and she couldn't help but blame herself for indirectly helping them meet. Jungkook had went for another class so he could see what he had missed when he went to cheer her up that they started talking. There, he met his crush. Jungkook had always thanked her, saying that if he hadn't seen her crying that day, he wouldn't have missed a class and wouldn't have met his crush. Yet, she wished that he had left her alone that day if she knew that this would happen. Jungkook talked as if his crush was his world, while he was hers. Jungkook had talked about how he could see their future together, while she was just sitting there quietly listening to him. Jungkook had talked about how his crush was the reason why he was in the world because fate had brought them together, while she could only sit by his side and wish that he talked about her that way. How she wished.

When she received a call from him, she had a bad feeling. She knew that she didn't want to hear it. But instead of trusting her gut feeling, she picked up the call. She could hear his excitement over the phone. She knew what was this about. When he shouted her name and started talking about how his crush accepted his confession, she knew it was over. She gave a sad smile as she stared out of her window, the same one she had always watch Jungkook through. She saw him running around in his backyard with his phone held at his ear then he collapsed onto the ground with a huge smile on his face. Oh, how she wished that was for her. She turned away from the window before he looked up, if not he could see the tears rolling down her face.
"Tell me, what do you think she saw in me?" He asked. "Well, you are the nicest thing I've seen so I think that is why." She heard him sigh happily. "Hey, do you think we could hang out for awhile? We haven't done that for quite a long time now." "I don't think so Jungkook. I still have quite a few things to do." She replied as she stared at the boxes placed in front of her. She had decided to go overseas to study. When she made that decision, Jungkook was chasing after his crush. He had always cancelled their meet ups just to go out with his crush. She never had the chance to tell him, now she doesn't see a reason to, since she knew that she definitely wouldn't be his favourite, she never was from the start.
"Jungkook ah? I'm going to hang up now." "Alright, talk to you soon okay?" She knew that she couldn't lie to him so she just ended the call.
"Well, that puts an end to the one-sided love."

BONUS PART
When Jungkook woke up, his body was covered in cold sweat. He knew something was wrong whenever that happened. He picked up his phone and unlocked it with his shaky hands. His gut feeling was telling him that he wouldn't like where it was going but he needed an answer. As he pressed onto her contact and put his phone to his ear, he could feel his hand shaking very badly. He was one to trust his gut feeling so this time, he could only wish that it was wrong.
"Jungkook? What are you doing up at 3am?" He could hear the background noises. He could make out the people talking. Ignoring her question, he asked her, "Where are you?" Silence. "Dammit! I'm asking you, where are you?!" He shouted into his phone, frustrated and anxious. He could hear her sigh, this was the moment of truth. But before she could reply, he heard it. "Passengers boarding flight number BT301, please board the flight now. " "Why are you at the airport? What is going on?" He asked. Many questions were running through his head. "Look Jungkook, I really need t-"
"Don't give me that bullshit, it's not the final call yet. Answer me! Why are you leaving?" The real question he wanted to ask was, why are you leaving me?
"Jungkook, I'm just going to study overseas. I'm going to be back in a few years' time and we can catch up then alright?"
"Why do I feel as if this is a permanent goodbye then? You aren't planning to come back, are you?" Please say that you will be coming back, he silently begged.
Silence.
"Jungkook, it's time for me to go. Goodbye, please take care of yourself well when I'm not there alright?"
Then, all he heard after was a dial tone.
By then, there was only one question was left unanswered.
.
I thought you loved me, so why are you leaving me?
