We don't end up leaving the restaurant until seven o'clock, which isn't super late, but three hours with a very horny couple is pretty gross.
"I'm so tired!" I plop face first on the bed, causing Colten to laugh. It's not his normal laugh, though. It's empty and sad.
I get up and turn to him.
"You've been weird ever since the restaurant," I frown. "What's wrong?"
He shakes his head, looking down at the floor. I grab his hand and pull him on to the bed, sitting next to him.
"What is it?" I massage his head.
"It's what my dad said," he sighs.
"What's wrong with what he said?" I furrow my eyebrows.
"He's not staying in Michigan, Nikki," he whispers.
I still. Craig has a company in New York and rarely comes to visit his wife. She used to work with him when she decided she'd rather stay with her son. Craig didn't. It took a toll on Colten and Karen. Now he's saying he'll stay in Michigan, but Colten doesn't believe him.
"What do you mean? He said he was-"
"I know what he said," Colten snaps making me jump. He gets off the bed and stands by the door, taking off his shirt. "He says that shit all the time. My mom believes him too."
I jump again when he throws the shirt at the wall.
"Colten," I stand up, moving so I'm in front of him. "How do you know? It could be different this time."
"It'll never be different," he growls, looking in my eyes. He's not trying to be mean, I can see the sadness that covers his anger. "Mom will keep believing him and then she'll keep getting left with nothing. It's sick."
I wrap my arms around his waist, burying my face in his chest. It takes a moment before he too wraps his arms around me and sticks his face in the crook of my neck.
"I'm sorry for yelling," he sighs and pecks my neck.
"It's okay to be mad," I pull away and cup his face. "I think you should talk to him about it."
"And say what," he laughs sarcastically. "That I want him to stop playing my mom?"
I roll my eyes. "Stop being an ass. You know what you want to say to him."
He sighs. "I love you."
"Love you too," I peck his lips.

"You sure you don't want to come to the gym with me?" Colten asks as I clean the kitchen.
"Yeah, I'm fine," I smile and he pulls me towards him.
"Fine," he presses his lips to mine, pushing me against the counter and wrapping his fingers in my hair.
I moan when his tongue makes its way into my mouth, tangling with my own. I fist the shirt fabric at Colten's sides and pull him more towards me. This causes him to groan and grind against me. Our mouths close around each other, making hot popping sounds through the house.
