"You're going to drop him, right?" I want to yell at him, curse him out for making me agree to this when he knew I was vulnerable at the time. I want to kick him in the groin, but maybe he is right. Adam isn't good news and I'd hate to cause problems in my marriage so quick into it.
"Yes, Colten," I sigh and curl my eye lashes.
"Just making sure," he mumbles. "Oh, I have something to ask you?"
"What is it?" I turn to him, noticing his sweat pant clad body leaning in the door frame.
"Some of the guys from the team are hanging out tonight with their wives and girlfriends, and I was wondering if you wanted to go?"
Football players? Their wives? I'd rather not. It's not that I don't like any of the girls, but - I don't. They're all fake and very prissy. With their dolled up faces, fake tans, big hair and skimpy clothes, they're not the best group. Plus, Brittni once told me there is a whole lot of drama with them.
"I know you don't really like them-"
"I'll go," I say, turning back to the mirror.
"Really?" He looks surprised. I would be too.
"Yeah," I shrug. "It could be fun."
"Right," he drawls out, stepping into the bathroom and standing behind me. His muscular arms wrap around my waist and he looks at our reflections in the mirror. "I don't want you to think you have to."
"I don't," I lie. "But if Chelsea is going to be there, I have to make sure she won't try anything."
"Nikki," he growls. "You know I would never do anything with her."
"Obviously," I roll my eyes and turn around to face him, planting my hands on his pectorals. "But I'm not so sure what she's capable of."
"She's my bosses daughter," he tells me with angry eyes.
"So?" I question. "That doesn't mean she won't do anything."
"You're unbelievable," he growls, making me narrow my eyes at him.
"And you're not?" I question haughtily. "You're making me drop a client all because you don't like him."
"That is completely different," he defends.
"How?"
"Because I have reasons to not like him," Colten huskily responds, his facial features growing more furious. His grip on my waist tightens making me scowl at him even more.
"And I have a reason to dislike Chelsea," I hiss.
"You fucked this guy!" Colten yells making me flinch and my cheeks redden. I ignore the hurt I feel from his words and come back stronger.
"Yeah? Well, I fûcked Trevor too, but you're not throwing a tantrum about that!" Low blow, Nikki. Low blow.
From the pure rage crossing his face, I can tell my words had the effect I wanted.
His face leans in, until I can feel his breath against my lips. "And I fucked half the girls you know from high schools, but all you care about is Chelsea who I've never touched."
I bite my lip to hide the tears that want to form, and as he leaves the bathroom with one last glare, I try to catch my breath. The front door slamming shut and the sound of Colten's truck muffler makes a lone tear slide right down my cheek.
How did this happen?

Apparently, Adam is only scheduled for Tuesdays and Thursday's so I didn't get a chance to break it off.
