Chapter 9 - Cyber Vortex

Grasping heavily while holding a device that he believed weren't functioning, Chief Hayate delivered the bad news to Haley Ambrosia.

"Signals that was secretly monitoring the brat's character system... It suddenly disappeared!"

"What?! How can that be?!"

"I still don't know, Haley-sama. But when a character system becomes inactive, it means the brat's life must be..."

Chief Hayate just stared on Haley Ambrosia with wide eyes. His eyes were slowly turning red, with tears starting to flow out it. The disappearance of lights signals on the device suggested that Yosuke Masuda was already dead.

And then... All of the sudden...

...

...

Several different colored lights started to reappear on the device Chief Hayate was holding.

"!"

"Oh! What do you know... It started to function again! Hahahahaha! Hahahahaha!"

That laughter of Chief Hayate was eventually halted when Haley Ambrosia's foot crushed the thing between Chief Hayate's legs.

It left Chief Hayate on his knees in great pain.

"Don't make a ruckus like that, Oji-san!"

"M-M-My bad..."

Upon opening his eyes, Yosuke Masuda's vision was still blurry and unclear. He immediately swiped his eyes using his hands as the sunlight struck out his vision. The janitor boy then caught a glimpse of where he had woken up.

He was on a bed in a wooden room.

"!"

It was quite dusty in that place. From the just observing the room alone, Yosuke could say that he was probably in an old, deserted house somewhere.

"Where am I?"

The only source of light in that room was the window sealed with plywoods just beside him.

But upon moving his body for the first time, the janitor boy felt a small pain in his right arm. It was then he realized that he was full of white bandages around his body.

"Aw!"

Recognizing that he was full of bandages, it was also the time when Yosuke remembered all the things that happened on his first mission in Trinity. And all of a sudden, he lost composure.

"Wait a minute...! Wh-Wh-What?!"

Upon swinging his head back and forth, trying to find out where exactly he was, Yosuke saw someone standing within that same room.

It was a girl. A girl with pinkish hair that was standing beside a table, pouring some hot beverage on a teacup.

The mysterious girl then noticed Yosuke's flustering movements.

"Oh! Good morning, Yosuke-kun!"

"Wh-What happened to me?! What happened to everyone?! Huh?! Who the hell are you?!"

"Um, you see, they..."

What date is it? Did I sleep for almost a week because of my injuries?! Is my beard too long now?!"

"Umm, it is..."

"DID I JUST HAD AN AMNESIA...?! Wait... I still know my name..."

"As you can see, you..."
