Chapter 9 Part 4

Caroline Castlelock didn't know what was happening. But her only concern was the safety of her friend, Yosuke Masuda, who was still buying her enough time against the horse-type champion beast.

But when the pink-haired girl was about to move her feet, she suddenly fell over her knee.

I overused my ability... panted Caroline.

The pink-haired girl just started breathing heavily. And below the heat of the sunlight, she panted while drenched in sweat on her knees.

W-What happened to Yosuke-kun?

Even though Caroline was worrying about the whereabouts of her friend, she spotted a man standing in the middle of nowhere.

It was the person she sensed earlier inside the clock tower's basement.

"!"

Having a hard time to move, Caroline was just observing the unidentified man, wondering who it was.

The man was wearing a red sleeved coat partnered with black pants. But the thing that grabbed Caroline's attention was the leather mask the man was wearing and the silver knife on his right hand.

The mask was made from a brown leather with several silver button-like knobs scattered throughout the mask, hiding the person's entire face besides his eyes and mouth. And from observing the small golden crystal in the middle of the knife, the pink-haired girl could tell that it was not just an ordinary knife.

The masked man slowly stepped his way to Caroline Castlelock. When she reached the pink-haired girl, he suddenly spoke.

"As expected of Deon-sama's disciple, you easily dodge my ability despite being just a little brat. So that's what I have to expect from a God's Gift user..."

He knows I'm using a God's Gift Ability? Caroline alarmingly thought.

The pink-haired girl immediately covered her right eye with her right hand. And underneath that palm of her, the pink haired girl's right eye began to emit a golden three-sided star without her opponent's consent.

She then asked him.

"Who are you?!"

The masked man just smiled. Without answering the question, he lifted his right hand, with a few small rocks floating around his hand.

Caroline's eyes suddenly widened.

This man is a...?

As the masked man raised his right hand and pointed the silver-colored knife towards the Caroline, the ground around them started to tremble. And just in front of the masked man, giant rocks and stone began to float. Those floating rocks were being attached to one another as if being pulled by a gravitational force, forming three golem-like creatures that was three times the size of the horse-type champion beast.

"THOSE ABILITIES WILL BE MINE!"

Those words from the masked man put a chill on Caroline's spine.

This is bad. This guy is a one of the twelve Supremes. I won't be able to escape even with my Permeation Ability... Caroline carefully thought of her situation. Both Yosuke-kun and I don't stand a chance against him. I... I have to use my trump card!

The three golems in front of the masked man began to move. They roared as they leaped into the air, landing in front of Caroline and easily shattered the ground around them.

"!"

Not only that those golems were huge, they were also moving so fast like it didn't have any weight stats at all.

Caroline didn't waste any time and ran towards a golem in front of her. The golem quickly countered with its fist, trying to land a damage to Caroline. But the pink haired girl just passed through its stone-made fist before moving through the golem's body. The two other golems also responded with both of their fists, smashing it to the ground just as the girl passed through the first golem.

"!"

But still, it didn't affect her.

There were several rocks that were being blown away to all directions, but Caroline Castlelock was just running towards the masked man like there wasn't any golems at all.

The things that Caroline knew about her opponent was his identity of being a Supreme and his lust for power. And thinking that he was here all along, this man might even know about the Transportation Vortex that was written in the clock tower.

With both of her and Yosuke's life on the line, Caroline knew she must do something.

In order to escape, I have to use this ability...

The pink-haired girl suddenly stopped running and slowly closed her eyes. But at the same time, a golden, three sided star could be seen on both of Caroline's forehead and at the floor where the masked man was standing.

"What's this?!"

In that moment, a bright light irritated the masked man's eyes that blinded him for a second.

"?"

After that bright light flashed out, both the three sided star and the masked man vanished in front of the pink-haired girl.

Caroline fell to the ground once again. But this time, she couldn't move her entire body. She was panting while lying on the ground with her white robe full of dirt.

W-Where's Yosuke-kun...?

Just right after the golden light blinded him, the masked man felt something odd.

He couldn't hear his golem's roar anymore. He couldn't even feel the ground on his feet. It was like he was just floating in the air for some reason.

All he could sense was a rough wind that endlessly blowing his entire body. But he knew that he was not in the Soul Town anymore.

"?"

When he regained his eyesight, he was amazed at what he had saw.

He then yelled in excitement.

"HAHAHAHAHA! HAHAHAHAHA! SO THIS IS THE POWER OF A GOD'S GIFT ABILITY! HAHAHAHAHA!"

He then grasped where he was.

"HAHAHAHAHA! I WILL DEFINITELY GET MY HANDS ON THEM!"

The masked man just realized he was already floating in midair, in the middle of the sky that was... Five thousand meters from the ground!
