jack's pov
days went by and weeks went by, and it only seemed liked max and savannah were getting much closer.
they're constantly doing work projects together, they now have their own inside jokes, but max and i haven't really managed to have a proper conversation.
it's usually him taking savannah and they head out, or the air is just really awkward and uncomfortable if she happens to leave me and him alone in a room.
i don't know, i'd just feel much more comfortable getting to know the new guy-friend that my girlfriend suddenly has to be honest.
i leant against savannah's desk, waiting patiently for her to finish printing things in the copy room, so we could head home.
max was also in the room, and staring out of the window - typically unbothered to start a conversation at all.
"so, um, are you into any sports?" i decided to break the ice and he turned his head.
"yeah, football and basketball are pretty good".
"ah cool, i love british football too. maybe we could go to a game together?".
he shrugged his shoulders, "yeah, maybe".
i was slightly confused and irritated by his lack of interest as he turned back to face the window.
"so, um, fashion" i tried again. "has it always been your first choice or is it just the countless amount of women who work here?" i snickered.
max faced me with a chuckle, but i assumed that it wasn't at my joke.
"if this is your subtle way of asking if i'm gay, the answer's no" he replied.
"well actually, i already knew that since you tried to ask savs out".
he was somewhat taken back by my words, "oh. she told you?".
"yeah, savannah tells me everything" i simply explained and max slid his hands into his pockets, shuffling a little closer.
"are you sure about that?".
i creased my eyes at him, "what's that supposed to mean?".
"well, it's just there's things that savannah's told me and i never assumed that you knew".
"like what?" i questioned, folding my arms across my chest with curiosity. but at that moment, savannah walked back into her office while i continued to stare intensely at max.
"so, what have you two been talking about?" she stared at both of us as she placed on her coat.
"just guys stuff, y'know" max vaguely replied, while i still wanted to know the answer to my question.
as savannah continued getting ready to leave, i quietly focused on her, wondering if there was stuff that she's been afraid to tell me.
or maybe i just being paranoid? i mean, since we're no longer just best friends, there has to be some sort of barrier between what she tells her friends and well, me.
