savannah's pov

"no, stop" i instantly said, stepping away from max and tucking the hair that he touched behind my ear. "it's...it's getting late".

i went back to the table and started to quickly pack away my things into my bag.

"savannah, i-i don't know what came over me" max tried to say, but i ignored him and took out my phone to see the lock screen filled with notifications.

"i have seven missed calls from jack..." i quietly spoke, and then i remembered. "shit, the dinner" i sighed and pushed my hair back.

i hastily closed my bag and took it, along with my coat on my arm.

"i have to go" i told max without giving him any sort of eye contact, and headed out of the door.

"savannah, wait".

"i'll see you on monday" i ignored him again.

"this won't make things awkward between us, will it?" he exclaimed and i paused, turning around by the elevator.

"i don't know" i lightly dropped my hands to the side. "but i do know that i need to go and see my boyfriend right now".

without allowing max to say anymore, the elevator arrived. i entered and pressed the button for the lobby floor, and as soon as the door closed, i leant my head against the wall.

i took short breathes as everything that just happened reminded me of last year.

of that night where jack and i stayed back late at work.

all he had to do was touch my thigh and get me all flustered and before i knew it, all i could think about was him and all i wanted was him.

and i'm not about to let that happen again or for that matter, cheat on jack.

on my way home in the taxi, i tried calling jack to apologise for forgetting about our date night but he wasn't answering.

i placed my keys and bag down when i walked through the apartment door, "jack?...jack, are you here?" i called out and walked towards the counter top in the kitchen to see a small note written:

nice to see where your priorities lie - made other plans.

i sighed, scrunching up the paper then threw it in the bin beside me. i tried calling jack again and the call still went to voicemail, so i texted him;

babe i'm so sorry

work got to my head, my phone was on silent and i completely forgot

please forgive me

i love you.

i knew that jack was probably out with his friends from work or something, so since it was eight thirty pm, i decided to take a shower and get ready for bed.

loud stumbling from the living room quickly awakened me from my sleep. i got out of bed, wrapping my night robe tightly around me and left the room.
