savannah's pov

i exited the airport, completely jet-lagged and expecting to see kendall waiting for me by her car, but i was a little surprised at who i saw instead.

"how was your flight?" max called out, leaning against his car with his arms folded. he lightly smirked at the confusion on my face as i came closer.

"it was good, but what are you doing here?" i asked in the nicest way possible.

"i wanted to the first one to hear all about your trip back home" he said and took my suitcase to place it in the trunk of the car.

he gestured for me to get into the passenger seat and i did so.

"so, where's jack?" max wondered, driving away from the sidewalk.

"oh, i just told him to stay and enjoy his holiday more".

he glanced over at me, "i bet it kind of sucks that work made you come back early, huh?".

"yeah, but i'll get over it. i'm actually quite excited for this whole fashion week season".

"me too, especially because you and i get to work together" max looked over and smiled, and i did the same until staring out of the window for the rest of the journey.

i bent down to the level of the car window once max had dropped me off at the apartment.

"i better go home to some peace and quiet for the weekend, before work on monday" he spoke with his hand gripped to the wheel.

i thought twice about my next words, before finally giving into blurting it out.

"hey, do you want to come inside for a bit? i've got a fridge full of beer, a cupboard full of snacks?".

a smirk settled on the corner of his lips, "i'm not very convinced, savannah. do you have a boxset of the office for us to binge watch?".

"max, you know i do" i rolled my eyes with a laugh and he chuckled at my reaction, whilst turning off the car then followed me into the lobby.

as soon as we reached the front door, i felt my phone vibrate in my pocket and i answered it, opening the door lock with the keys.

"hey baby, did you have a good flight?" jack asked.

"yeah, i did actually".

"good. so what are you doing right now? missing me already?" he smirked as i signalled for max to help himself to the kitchen.

"of course i am and i'm, uh, actually just hanging out with max" i told, leaving him silent over the phone for a few seconds.

"oh. at our place?".

i bit my lip, "yeah, he picked me up from the airport".

jack instantly scoffed at my words and i took a deep breathe.

"jack, i thought we were over this" i said, leaving the room to go somewhere private. "you trust me, don't you?".

"yes," he sighed. "i trust you".

"see, then you have nothing to worry about. we're just going to have a few drinks, eat, watch tv".

"okay, i'm sorry. i'll just talk to you later" jack spoke, though i was still not very convinced that he was okay with this.
