i walked out of my room, biting the inside of my cheek in hope that max had already left. but he was still there, folding up the blanket and pillows that i put out for him yesterday.

he looked over his shoulder once he heard me come in, "good morning".

"i thought you would have left by now" i said, folding my arms across my chest.

max chuckled, "what's gotten you in a such a bad mood?".

"have you forgotten about what happened last night?".

"well, no. i was a little wasted and so were you" he explained and i rolled my eyes.

"stop making excuses, max".

he snickered and held his arms up slightly, "woah, alright. sorry".

"you don't get it, do you?".

"get what?" he creased his eyebrows.

"jack and i have been having a few issues lately, most of them circling around you. but because you've become such a good friend of mine, i've tried to prove jack wrong. but what you did last night was—...do you even have an explanation?".

max sighed, sitting down on the arm of the couch as he shrugged his shoulders, "i was just caught up in—".

"no, you don't get to use that card again" i told as i remembered him saying the exact same words after he tried to kiss me at work.

"but i asked you if you wanted me to stop and you didn't say anything" he pointed and i instantly went quiet. "you obviously wanted it as much as i did".

"you know that's not true. i'm with jack and i love him" i quickly argued.

"do you?" he inquired. "you said it yourself that i've been the main topic of yours and jack's arguments, yet you still invited me in and let me stay the night".

"it's called being friendly, okay".

"it's called leading me on" max corrected.

i cocked my head back, "don't try and turn this all on me when you can't get it into your head that i have a boyfriend and i'm not just going to give in and kiss you".

he rose from the couch, "so if the phone didn't ring last night, you would have stopped me?".

"yes!" i exclaimed.

"i don't believe you" he spoke in a softer voice.

"then you need to leave" i ordered. "you're honestly ridiculous if you think that i would ever cheat on jack".

"am i?".

"yes!" i exclaimed once again.

"then prove it" max grunted, before he marched over to me, pulling me in by my waist and placing his lips onto mine.

before i could even get a chance to pull away, i heard the front door swing open. immediately, i pushed max back and saw jack standing at the door with his suitcase and his eyebrows narrowed.
