jack's pov

without any hesitation, i stepped into mr. tate's office and awkwardly caught him and savannah deeply making out against the front of his desk.

"woah, sorry" i turned away and quickly apologised. "i'm sorry, i should have knocked".

"it's fine, jack. what do you need?" mr. tate asked, so i faced them again.

"anderson wants you in his meeting".

he sighed heavily at my words and rose up from the desk.

"aw, do you have to go?" savannah wondered, trying to fix his tie for him.

"unfortunately, yes" he smoothed down his jacket and adjusted his tie a little more. "i'll come over after work, okay?".

"babe, wait" savannah stopped him before he could move any further and chuckled as she wiped her lipstick off his face.

"all good?" he checked, whilst i continued to awkwardly stand by the door.

"no" she kissed him one last time, then cleaned him up again.

mr. tate snickered and licked his lips, "now?".

"perfect".

he laughed and held onto her lower back to kiss her cheek, then hurried out of his office — patting my back on the way.

i was about to leave the room too, but i glanced back at savannah fixing her make up in the small mirror in her hands. i silently debated on whether to say something or not, but my hesitation took an awkward turn when she looked up at me.

"what?" she said, giggling a little to lighten her response.

i licked my lips, not knowing what to say because at this point, all i really wanted to do was start a conversation with her.

"aren't you supposed to be at work?" i questioned.

she focused on re-applying her lipstick in the mirror, "i, uh, start late today".

i nodded, then moved my eyes around the room, "...how is work any ways?".

"the same".

i kept expecting her to elaborate on her answers or even start up a topic, but it was no use. she's been seeing mr. tate for about a month now, it's been like forever since we spoke and yes, i do miss being around her.

"you and mr. tate are really hitting it off, huh?" i mentioned, but savannah nodded and smiled quite subtly before she picked up her bag and started to leave the office.

i sighed and gently took her by the wrist — she looked down at my haste gesture, so i naturally let go.

"hey, you know that you're still allowed to talk to me? i mean, we're still friends right?" i spoke in a quieter tone.

she looked up at me, shaking her head and folded her arms across her chest, "jack, we literally talk like once a month now and that's just a basic hi and bye".

"that's because you never give us the time too, savs".

"no, don't 'savs' me. it's not my fault that i'm getting on with my life after you refused to take me back" she told.

"i didn't refuse to take you back, i said i needed time and i'm not arguing with you right now, savannah" i told her and she looked to the side, letting out a breath and pursing her lips.
