savannah's pov

"so when are you going to tell everyone?" lauren questioned - her arms folded across her chest.

"well, my mom and dad already know since jack asked for his blessing but we were thinking now, ya know, at dinner" i explained.

we stood in the kitchen of my parents' home back in la.

jack decided that it would be a good idea to host a dinner with my parents, his parents, lauren, johnson, sammy and nate - just to bring everyone together for the big reveal.

"wow, really?" lauren's eyes widened and i nodded to answer. "i'm so happy for you by the way. you've had your fair share of boyfriends throughout the years but from the day that i met you and jack, i knew that you two were best friends that will end up getting married one day".

i held my hands up a little to stop her, "woah lo, it's not your maid of honour speech yet".

"fuck, am i going to be maid of honour?" she exclaimed in a whisper.

"yes. who else do you think i would have picked?".

"i don't know, the guys would find a way to turn it into a man of honour and compete with me".

i chuckled, looking through the open kitchen door at the boys adorably catching up in the living room.

"i love the guys and they're my best friends too, but you're my girl best friend - that's the most important one" i told, leaving her to smile warmly.

"dinner's all set, girls" my mom popped her head into the kitchen and said.

"you ready?" lauren took a deep breath as if it were her own announcement that she was about to blurt out.

i nodded and followed her out of the kitchen and into the dining room, where everyone already was preparing to eat.

time passed of laughing, reminiscing and updating each other on our lives right now. every now and then, jack and i would look over at one another and gesture for the other person to say something once silence faded in.

but i was too chicken and so was jack, but eventually i gave him a pleading look and a pouty face that he can never resist before he finally spoke up.

"uh guys, do you mind if i make a quick toast?" he began, encouraging everyone to raise their glasses. "so i'd just like to say that these moments mean the most to me, when i'm able to come back to my hometown and spend time with my family and friends who mean so much to me".

"woah g, who's dying?" johnson commented, receiving a few chuckles from others.

jack playfully rolled his eyes, "no one's dying, but i'm just saying that it's times like this that make me excited to make announcements to you all such as how last week, i asked savannah to marry me".

"holy s—".

"samuel, language" katherine interrupted his profanity. "but oh my god, my baby!".

jack's mom grabbed him beside her and covered his cheek in kisses as she began to cry with tears of joy.

"aw, finally! i'm so happy for you two!" she added, taking my hand from across the table and gently squeezing it.
