savannah's pov
"savannah, hey" nadine caught my attention when i came to meet tristan for a quick lunch and shopping trip.
i lightly creased my brows, confused by her sudden gesture.
"...hi" i hesitantly responded.
"are you here for mr. tate?".
i nodded, then showed her the gift bag in my hands, "and jack too, it's his birthday".
"yeah, i know. i got him this present that he really liked" she bragged, playing with the tips of her hair.
"great" i replied with a forced smile and tried to walk away from the conversation.
"actually," she stood in my way. "can i talk to you for a second, in my office?".
"um...okay?" i reluctantly agreed, then followed her down the halls until we arrived at the door, reading: nadine matthews.
she allowed me to walk inside first, so i turned to her in the middle of the room as she shut the door behind her.
"so, you and jack, what's the status at the moment?" nadine folded her arms, smiling with an unusual amount of enthusiasm.
"if you're implying if jack and i are officially broken up, then the answer is yes — i'm with tristan now".
"but that's never stopped you before" she bought up.
i cocked my head back, "excuse me?".
"oh, no offence" nadine defended. "but, i also know that you see me as the home wrecker of your relationship with jack, but you were once the same, savannah".
i shifted uncomfortably in my spot, keeping a straight posture, "how do you know about that?".
"my mistake, jack and i are close like that".
"well, it's not your business to talk about, it's not even your business to know" i corrected her.
she walked a little closer, "but i do know, honey and i also know that you should try and loosen the reins on jack".
i stared at her, questioning whether this woman was being serious right now, so i chuckled at her pettiness.
"sweetheart, look. i can be all for the bitchiness, but not this time. jack and i are over, i'm dating tristan, i'm happy with him and i like him, so you can either loose the attitude and suck it up that jack and i are still friends, or keep up with the snide remarks and get an even harder clapback from me".
i gave her my most fake smile, then brushed past her with my eyes rolling back to leave and go and find jack.
i walked through a few more hallways until i reached jack's office. i knocked and refused to wait for a reply, so i opened the door and popped my head through.
"happy birthday" i practically sang and he dramatically gasped as he sat at his computer.
"how did you know?" jack said and i shook my head at his lame joke, before entering with the door closing behind me.
"so, how is it going so far?" i asked, standing in front of his desk.
"well, i don't think that your boyfriend cares that it's my birthday because he gave me all of this paper work to do as soon as i arrived" he complained whilst being surrounded by a bunch of important papers.
