Hetalia Orphanage Part 5

After a loud, but reasonably uneventful weekend (because I'm lazy and can't really be bothered and don't have any ideas for it)...

Someone screamed, startling Lukas out of a dreamless sleep. Emil was sitting up in the bed next to his, staring with a confused expression at the door. His gaze drifted down to the end of his bed and he nearly groaned out loud. Of course, today was the day the were going to the school. A knot appeared in his stomach and he contemplated running to the bathroom to throw up. He didn't want to go. He'd always hated school, being the weird kid with the weird accent that wasn't English. Then again, it was the same for Emil, but still.

"Do we have to go?" Emil asked, speaking his thoughts.

Lukas sighed and nodded. "I'm afraid so."

The scream came again, closer this time, as though the person was on the stairs.

"No" they screamed. "Don't tell her, please Ronan, don't." (Got this from the picture, and I love it so much. Just imagine it's Sealand instead of Ireland)

Emil opened the door a little and peered out, to reveal Peter clinging to the banister like his life depended on it, and Ronan trying to drag him downstairs.

"You wet the bed again" Ronan hissed.

"Please don't tell her"

Emil shrugged and closed the door carefully. Lukas flicked back his covers and stepped carefully into the bathroom. All rooms had one attached to them so that the main bathroom didn't get crowded, or a queue block up the corridor.

It was scary going to a new school again. He'd moved around a bit, changed schools a lot, and each time it was terrifying. Most people in the house were in year ten with him... but still. What if they abandoned him for others? What if others thought he was even weirder than everyone else? What if his friends appeared? He'd decided not to mention them when Mathias had sounded so against the idea of friends no one else could see with the Kirklands. It didn't matter anyway. If he spoke quietly enough, he'd be fine. Or... or... they hopefully wouldn't appear anyway, so there was no point in worrying about it.

He quickly got changed into the dark blue uniform and went back into the bathroom, to Emil, who was dragging a brush through his hair in the same uniform. It was a... he wasn't quite sure what to call it. A school with an age range from nursery to sixth form. As he came in, Emil turned to him and held out his hand.

"You forgot your clip" he said.

Lukas glanced at it for a second and then put it in. He wasn't sure, but he thought he'd seen some weird looks from other people. That didn't matter though. He could overlook all that.

Emil wandered out of the door and down the stairs, Lukas close behind him. The dining room wasn't anywhere near as full as it had been before, almost empty in fact, the centre littered with cereal packets, most of which were on their side, neglected. Tino sat by himself at one end, hunched over a bowl of berries, reading the back of a cereal packet, Mathias being no where to be seen and Berwald wrestling with Alfred for a packet of cereal, moving too fast for Lukas to make out the name of it.

Tino looked up, grinned and waved them over. "Took your time" he said.

"His fault" Emil jabbed his thumb at Lukas who pulled a face and sat down.

"So... how're you feeling?"

Lukas shrugged. "Butterflye? Can I make up a word?"

"Guess so" Berwald said, sitting down triumphantly with the cereal packet, leaving Alfred sulking in the corner.

"Lukas" Mathias cried, charging into the room and tackling him from behind.

Tino rolled his eyes and smirked into the last of his berries. Lukas shook him off and started pouring cereal into a bowl.

"Aww, you feeling all nervous?" Mathias said, leaning on Emil's head. Emil growled and tried to shove him off, getting no reaction.

"No" Lukas muttered.

"It's okay" Mathias nodded, still loud. "We all do."

"Between you and Alfred it's a wonder we aren't all deaf" Arthur complained from the other end of the table, delicately sipping tea next to Allistor who was downing a bottle of brandy.

"Hey, it's a wonder we can sleep most nights with you and your cult" Alfred shouted.

"It's not a cult..." Alfred started.

"Yeah, because you're the only member" Allistor said, stopping drinking for a split second before continuing.

Arthur muttered something that sounded like a curse, put down his empty tea and left the room. Allistor choked on something. "Get back here you little git" he screamed, running after him.

"Was... that actually a ... what did he do?" Lukas turned to Tino.

"He curses people frequently" Mathias said like it was no big deal. "All five of them do. Alfred and Mathew excluded of course." He glanced calmly up at the clock and then yelped. "Crap, we're gonna be late. That's why it's so empty today. Let's go."

He raced out, followed closely by the others. It was a normal school morning really, rushing around. Lukas and Emil had always seemed to get up late and not arrive at school on time. Today was clearly no different. By the time they'd thrown open the door, they were the only ones left in the house, Who having gone out to do some shopping.

"How close is the school?" Lukas said, falling into pace beside Mathias, who had slowed to a walk now.

"Hm?" he turned to glance blankly at him.

"Not that far" Tino said. "It's about... fifteen minutes walk away, but everyone gets there early. We're not really late, he just over empathises stuff, and we're later than normal."

Emil rolled his eyes and muttered something under his breath.

"It wasn't that" Mathias turned a corner. "They're new, so they probably have to go to the office first, and then find timetable and where everything is."

Berwald grunted as they passed a shop. The door opened and Eduard appeared next to them, Raivis and Toris in tow.

"So, early this morning are we?" Eduard said, pushing his glasses up his nose.

"No, dead on time" Tino corrected. "You're just later than normal."

Toris sighed. "He spent too long in the shop" he said, gesturing to Raivis who had half a strawberry lace hanging out of his mouth.

"Didn't" he muttered.

"Don't worry Ray" Mathias put a hand on top of his head. "I would've taken longer."

"Please don't do that, it's making me feel small" Raivis shuddered. "And it reminds me of Ivan."

"Who's Ivan?" Emil asked.

"He's not that bad" Mathias said hesitantly. "He just tends to pick on people a bit, this lot being his normal victims. Stick with us and you'll be fine."
