Drugged Happiness

"I hate being the assistant of a assistant. It's weird.", I stare at the ceiling.

Cisco mhmmed. "So you don't miss Barry?"

I blink. "Of course I do. I cant not miss that guy."

"But you seem okay."

"Hey I have loads of spare time I guess."

Cisco smiles," What on earth are you hiding from me Gabi?"

I choke. "What? I'm not hiding anything!"

He grins. "I know you. Spit it out."

"Fiiineeeee. I can fly."

"See I knew- WHAT?! You can fly now? Jeez, I'm so so so jelly"

"And there's something else. But ill tell all of you guys later."

"Even Barry?"

"It might be something he deserves to know. Anyway, what are you creating bestie?"

He giggles. "The boot", he smirks.

The boot. Has a cool ring to it.

"Gabriella Davis you said you would tell all of us!", Cisco yells.

Im shaken at his loudness but everyones death stares are burning into me.

Especially Barrys.

He sits away but his once light eyes are heavy.

"I", I begin.

Iris raises an eyebrow.

"Can we do this after flash day? Please? I dont wanna ruin the mood. If you get me?", I plead. Joe sighs and gets up.

"This doesn't seem as urgent. We need to get other work done first."

"Thanks", I mumble.

Iris walk to me and whispers I my ear," Gabi, if there's something we need to know, you can tell us."

I nod," I feel like I need to get to right terms with it before I tell you guys. Some of you may not like it", I say, looking straight at Barry.

Iris turns to see him and nods. "I get it", she says," He's been really closed off lately."

I nod.

"Well, if you need any help, I'm at home or work or getting coffee, I'll see you", she says.

"I can't believe you didn't say anything", Cisco says disapprovingly as we watch the mayor stumble across the stage.

I Humph.

"Everythings secure. We are all good.", Says joe.

"Well look who decided to show up", says Cisco, crossing his arms over his flash T-shirt.

I follow his gaze and find caitlyn, looking a little insecure and making her way to the crowds.

"Its nice of her to show her support", I state. Cisco nods.

"Do you think he'll be here?", Asks Joe. "He didn't seem too keen on coming."

"I dont know Joe. I hope he does."

A sudden flash of light and we see a grinning Barry on stage, waving out to the crowd.

He came.

That was unexpected, though nice.

I smile to myself, letting it dissolve when Cisco catches my eye, raising an eyebrow.

And the next thing I hear is a roar, and screaming.

Without even blinking, I grab my mask which hides in the van, and slip it on, pressing a button which forms an illusion of a suit.

Cisco snatches the boot, hoisting it up, and bearing it's heavy weight.

He aims it, me at his side at an enormous man.

I look at Joe, his face full of shock.

It's the man who was murdered.

Barry has a sense of panic crossed on his face, the boot didn't work.

It's making him stronger.

Cisco signals to me, and I use my sheer panic to create my punches of energy.

The worst idea possible. The man seems to absorb the energy and this is when cisco pushes me aside yelling at me to go.

I stumble to the side, as I feel liquid trickling from my nose and ears.

Blood.

Blurry.

I can't see.

Red drowns my vision.

And the last thing I hear is someone calling my name.

I blink to see everyone high fiving and Barry speeding in.

Damn. Did I miss everything?

Caitlyn rushes over to me," I drugged you, so you wouldn't fight."

"What why?"

"Umm, Barry said so."

Oh.

I pull out the needle, allowing caitlyn to bandage it.

Cisco grins at me. Barry gives me a small smile.

I raise an eyebrow.

Everyone is staring at me.

"Okay what?"

"Your extra security idea", Cisco quickly says," we did that!"

"Yeah", says Iris," No one can just waltz in here anymore!"

"You are all in danger", says a familiar deep voice.

"Are you kidding me?", Says Cisco.

"Hands in the air!", Commands Joe.

"My name is-", he begins.

"Jay Garrick?", I finish.

He smiles.

"Gabriella Davis, a pleasure to see you alive and well."
