Can you keep up?

Chapter 13

Charlie's POV

We arrived at the Cimorelli house and I climbed out of the car. Lauren was already unlocking the front door by the time Dani and I had slammed the car doors shut. We followed her into the house and dumped our bags on the side.

"Hey Dauren!" A girl's voice called from somewhere in the house. 

"Hey Lise," Dani greeted as we all walked into the massive kitchen. There was a beautiful girl with long dark hair sitting at the island on her laptop. She looked a lot like Lauren and I recognised her from their videos as being one of the sisters.  

"How was school?" She asked without looking up.

"Meh, the usual," Dani replied and Lisa glanced up from her screen.

"Oh hey! Who's this?" She asked smiling at me.

"This is Charlie," Dani told her as she grabbed some lemonade from the fridge, "she's uh... Lauren's friend." She chuckled and I smiled and waved at Lisa.

"Not really," Lauren said bluntly as she raided the pantry. Ouch. 

"Uhh yeah, we're just partners for a project," I shrugged awkwardly as I sat down opposite Lisa and next to Dani. 

Lisa looked a bit confused but nodded her head, "oh okay, I'm Lisa their sister, what's the project for?"

"Art," I said fiddling with my fingers. Lauren was moving around the kitchen a little aggressively and slammed a few cupboard doors a bit too hard.

"What's her problem?" Lisa mouthed silently to Dani and nodded her head towards Lauren who had her back turned. 

Dani shrugged and rolled her eyes, "just ignore her," she said turning her head to me, "she's been like this a lot lately." 

"You know just because I can't see you doesn't mean I can't hear you," Lauren growled, her back still turned. 

"Lol Lauren, eat a snickers," Dani laughed and Lauren turned to glare at her.

"Ha ha very funny," she said sarcastically. 

"Bad day Laur?" Lisa asked her as she got up and walked over to her and leaned against the counter.

"Not really, so why are you here Lise?" She asked her sister in a softer voice.

"I left my charger here so came to get it but I just decided I'd hang around a while and wait for you guys to get home from school."

"Where's mom?"

"She went to the grocery store, the others are coming over later so I'm gonna hang here," she said watching Lauren make a sandwich. "You gonna make your friend one?" She asked raising her eyebrows at Lauren. Lauren sighed and turned to look over at me with a frustrated expression on her face.

"Want a sandwich?" 

I closed my dry mouth and swallowed, "uh, n-no thanks." She turned back away and I took a big gulp of the lemonade Dani had given me. 

"So, Charlie," Lisa smiled as she turned her attention to me, "you have a boyfriend?" I choked on my drink and looked at her in surprise. 

"Really?" Lauren said in an annoyed tone as she stared down her sister. Dani laughed and shook her head at Lisa.

This is the second time today I've been asked this and it is no less awkward, "umm no, I don't," I smiled uncomfortably at her. 

"Really? I'm surprised! You're gorgeous!" I blushed and looked down at the worktop.
