brynn
After a one way flight from California to Florida, I felt completely dead. Energy wise, emotional wise, and every other type of dead you could feel. I walked off the plane feeling unfamiliar and sheepish. Tightening the grip I had on my carry on bag, and taking in my surrounding. I'm home. Following the areas hanging around the airport so I could pick up the rest of luggage. My bright blue suitcase stuck out like a swore thumb, but I made sure to check the tags. It was mine, one of my smaller fears was to accidentally grab the wrong bag. Or worse my baggage to be stolen or lost. I left my thoughts to look around for my dad or some other familiar face. Instead I found Xander's, and my own face instantly scrunched up in displeasure, disgust.
"Brynn, baby!" The words left the mouth of my father, not Xander. As I embraced my beloved dad. I couldn't help but stay in this constant state of shock, "Daddy, what's Xander doing here?" I giggled so it seemed like an origin of curiosity. Christopher, my father's name, just blew off the question as he hugged me to death. I watched in awe as Xander grabbed my bag, and suitcase from my hands. He didn't look much different from the last time I saw him, still a scum bag I assumed, "Hey, I've been working for your dad at his shop." Xander explained, as he took me into a cringe worthy hug. My arms were hanging from the sides, "His shop?" The last time I saw my dad he was working at his parent's law firm as an attorney.
"As a hobby, I've opened a Auto Shop. Brynn, you remember how much I loved fixing up cars?" Christopher explained a bit over excited. As I came to think about it, he did work on cars often. Just never thought he would make a shop out of it, and hire Xander; gross. We walked out to his car, and Xander put my bags in the trunk. I sat in the back while they both say in the front. Xander kept looking up at the rear view mirror to get a look at me. I breathed out uncomfortably and my jacket across my body to cover up more, "So what have you been up to, Christopher?" He never seemed to care when I called him by his first name. Wasn't very strict with me, since I was his own kid and daughter for the longest time. Now of course he had a step daughter a couple years younger then me, and a biologically son about eight.
"I was so sad to hear you broke up with Xander." Christopher blurted out, totally avoiding the question that was at hand. I didn't know this was the Xander and Brynn fan club meeting, wouldn't have come otherwise. I simply rolled my eyes and thought to be patient, "Daddy, I have a new boyfriend now. His name is Calum, and he's really nice. He was hoping to come, but things happen." I explained and instantly saw Xander's eyebrows raise. He turned so he could face me, "Calum? I for sure thought something would come out of Luke and you." The words hit me like rocks, where the hell did he get that idea? I bit the inside of my cheek to keep any rude words from spilling out, "Luke's my best friend and he's actually seeing someone." I snapped back, and counted him trying to get James to sleep with him as, 'seeing someone'.
"Calum? Luke? Brynn this is why you need to get on the Facebook, so I can keep up with you." Christopher said completely and utterly lost on the conversation. Xander mumbled a couple agreeing words as if himself would be caught dead on 'the Facebook'. Then Christopher and Xander rambled on as if it hadn't been almost a year since my dad had seen me. New car models and environmental law, we're obviously more important then a living breathing human. I checked my phone and turned off airplane mode. Quickly all the text delivered, a couple from Calum and Carter. Also no surprise Luke, probably whining and nagging. In summary, Calum was freaking out about my plane crashing, Carter just wanted to talk, and Luke was still having trouble with James.
"When was the last time you saw Kristen, and Kyle?" My father called out, bringing my attention away from my phone. I hadn't been with his family in so long, since mother tried to distance us. So I took a minute to think, before coming to a conclusion, "A little over a year." I was kind of ashamed of my answer, it wasn't that I didn't want to see them. It was all my mother's fault and all her weird tendencies. Xander saw this as a time to speak up, "Kristen is so tall now, probably as tall as you." His words were to soft, kind. I didn't trust them for a second, so I brushed off comment. The ride wasn't that long to Christopher's house, probably about twenty minutes. Which could be long for anyone having to be in the car with someone like Xander.
