"It's the first day of our senior year, bagels are necessary," I begged after Xander had declined my offer to get bagels. He had this strict 'no eating in the car' rule, and it was total bs. The other day Xander and I ate sushi in his car, and it was perfectly fine then. He stared at me skeptical for a moment, "Bagels leave crumbs, then I have to vacuum those crumbs." Xander's tone was playful and I knew I still had some leeway. The begging went on for another good five minutes before he finally agreed. We were probably going to be late now, but it was worth it. Xander quickly parked his car in the school parking lot, and I tried to scarf down the rest of my bagel. He pulled me by the hand as he led me into the building, "Xander I can't chew and run." I mumbled and rushed quickly behind him. We had picked up our schedules a couple weeks prior, so all we had to do was get to class and our lockers. This is where we had to part, "I'll see you in calculus." I waved good bye, sadly it was the only class we had together.

"Bryana, it's good to see you." I spun around in search of the voice, and who to yell at for using the wrong name. It was just the principal, who I didn't remember the name too either. On the way to my locker, which had changed from where it was last year. I saw him. His hair was different; blonde streaks disappeared. He was also surrounded by a number of jocks and a few random girls I had never seen. Except one. A friend of Luke's that I had seen at a party once or twice over the summer. I hadn't even realize how hard, long that I was staring. Until Calum stared back only for a second though. A flicker almost, from the floor to me and back to the floor. I turned my attention from him back to finding my locker. Upon finding my locker there was a familiar blonde standing beside it, "Looks like we're neighborhoods." Luke sighed when he caught sight of me.

"Just my luck too, because I wanted to talk to you about something," I smiled a cheesy smile. Once Luke's face became slightly annoyed, I knew he knew what it was about already. So I was prepared to use the same begging technique I used on Xander, "Will you please tutor me again? I already know I'm gonna suck at calculus." Yes it was early in the year, but Luke's tutoring schedule could really fill up. Especially with all the new eleventh graders he hadn't paid attention to before, one of them could take my spot. Luke turned away from me and began to put his books in order, "I know I'm ugly, and not worthy enough for your intelligence, but please?" I continued to beg, and even quivered my lip a bit. Finally Luke let a smile slip from his lips and I knew that it was yes, "Fine, now leave me alone." He scoffed, and I kept the same smile. With that Luke grabbed two of the books from his locker, and strutted off to somewhere else. I began to struggle with my lock, and wasn't able to get my combination right, "Damn it." I began to get a bit flustered.

"I've got it," A familiar voice called from behind me, and snatched the piece of paper from my hand. Calum read the piece of paper careful, before getting it all in one try. He was so abrupt before I could even open my mouth to say 'thank you', Calum had walked off. We hadn't been on the best terms, they were practically nonexistent. So what he had just done was very brave of him; in a sense. Luke had done his best to make sure we were never at the same place at the same time, couldn't really do that school. We also bumped into each other at parties a couple times, except I had Xander by my side. So even if he wanted to say anything, he didn't dare. We also hadn't spoken to each other, in an actual conversation, since we broke up back in Florida. It was surprisingly easy to avoid each other for the rest of the summer. I spent most of my time with Xander, or Carter. While he probably sulked with Luke for the most part, or at least that was the idea Carter gave me.

"Brynn, just the girl I was looking for." Another annoyingly familiar voice called out. I grabbed my stuff for English Lit, when I was forced into an uncomfortable hug. I kept one arm around my book, and the other by my side. It was none other than Tarin, probably ready with my invite to the 'Calum's ex club', "Poor you. I was really rooting for yours guys." Her tone was forced, and didn't really sound that sorry. Knowing Tarin, she probably thought Calum was the one who broke up with me. Anything to make her feel better about herself. She finally let go of me, and I shrugged off her touch, "Thanks for the comfort but I'm fine." I lied through gritted teeth, and she just clapped her hands together. Then with giving me one more apologetic look, and some words of wisdom like 'it will get better' or 'he was a jerk anyway'. Tarin stirred off on her search to find someone else to bother. This wasn't the last time that someone came up to me, and attempted to feel sorry for me.
