And at first it was red
We had parked the car and sat on the hood
Waiting for the orange and
Yellow
To mingle in
Watching it spread like fire across
The horizon
And finally when we climbed down
And trampled over the green
Grass
To get back into that small sedan
It had finally turned a light shade of blue
No clouds in sight
Just a vast expanse of ocean hovering
Precariously
Over our swimming eyes
And when the day finally closed
And we came back to our spot
(our favorite spot, you know the one where we found the blanket with the indigo polkadots?)
It had turned its best shade of violet
When the darkness of the night mixes with the purple of the light
It was just so fucking beautiful
And we sat there until the blinding white of the stars
Started to fill in the gaps of the blackening universe
Until we finally fell asleep wrapped in the solace of our colors
