and the fireflies will be our night light

As the night starts to set in

I feel the heat continue to wrap around me like a hug from all sides

A rather suffocating hug it is

Still though, I stay seated atop your lap

Snuggled into you

Laughing about some joke we won't remember as the sun sneaks out of sight and the moon emerges from its hiding spot

These are the best times

The only times we have when the rest of the year is

Oh so busy

We can always count on these summer nights to bring us back together

To bring us back to us

To us and fireflies and dancing

And cold drinks and ice cream and soft, green grass

And Us

And us

and us
