Author's Note: I know that in the description it says that there's an unfortunate night that will change Alice's life forever. This isn't that night yet. Enjoy ^_^ !

I stood there. Watching my mother lay on the floor. Dead. Wearing a tight red dress that went above her knees & black pumps that cost her a fortune. I remember when she got them. She was so excited. She was SO excited. I'm not sure where that bastard went, but, I've never hated him more than this.

My mother & I never had a strong relationship. We barely even talked to eachother. But it still hurt. She was still my mother. I saw Jack stomp downstairs with a shovel & a bag. I was sitting next to my mother. I took of her rings & pearl necklaces & her shoes. He came by me.

"NOW. If you even DARE to call the police I promise to shoot each & everyone of them. Including you." he gave me an evil smirk & dragged my mother away. There she went.

I continued to sob. I ran upstairs & called Nate. I left him a voicemail.

"DAMMIT NATE. ANSWER ME. ANSWER ME. STOP BEING A LITTLE PIECE OF SHIT & ANSWER ME ALREADY. MY MOTHER IS DEAD. JACK SHOT HER. SHOT HER. OH MY GOD NATE. I NEED YOU RIGHT NOW. YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW MUCH I NEED YOU. PLEASE COME NATE. PLEASE." I cried & hung up.

Nate's P.O.V

I sat there in the car listening to my iPod. New voicemail. I paused my song & listened to it.

It was Alice, she was crying.

"DAMMIT NATE. ANSWER ME. ANSWER ME. STOP BEING A LITTLE PIECE OF SHIT & ANSWER ME ALREADY. MY MOTHER IS DEAD. JACK SHOT HER. SHOT HER. OH MY GOD NATE. I NEED YOU RIGHT NOW. YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW MUCH I NEED YOU. PLEASE COME NATE. PLEASE."

Holy crap! I needed to get there as soon as possible. I began to drive.

The good thing about this town is that everything's close to eachother.

Alice's P.O.V

I pacee

I paced around the room. I cried. I screamed. I did everything. I heard the door from downstairs open.

I thought it would be Jake. But in a matter of seconds Nate ran inside my room & slammed the door shut. I broke down again.

"THANK GOD." I screamed. "WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?!" I asked.

"The park." he answered. He ran over to me & wrapped me in a warm hug.

I fell to the floor & he fell with me. Not letting go.

My best friend. He's back. When I really need him the most. He's back.

I cried into his shoulder non-stop.

After about 20 minutes he finally said something.

"Shh.. Don't worry Al. I'm back. I'm back. This time I'm staying. I mean. I never really left. But you'll get through this. I promise you darling. I promise you." he kissed the top of my head & I just kept crying.

"Oh Nate, what would I do without you?" I asked.

I felt him smile. I looked at the digital clock by my iPod dock.

2:40 AM. I yawned & I brought the blanket down to the floor. I rested my head on Nate's shoulder.

"Nate."

"Hm?"

"Can you sing the song?"

He nodded. Oh Nate's voice was amazing. I always tell him he should join a band but he just smiles & laughs.

"You can rest easy tonight

Everything is gonna be alright

I promise

Go to sleep & dream of me tonight

Everything may not be perfect

But atleast we tried

So tonight sweet dreams

& sleep tight

I've been trying so hard

Can't get you out of my mind

& if this is how it has to be,

Just promise you wont forget me

& I'll leave you with this lullaby

Tonight

I know that this hurts you

It hurts me too

I wish there was something I could do

To make it easier for you

Sometimes it's tough too soon to call it love

But I wanted to

Yeah I wanted to

But it's too late

Not a say of the wonderful thoughts that I thought of you

So tonight

Sweet dreams

& sleep tight

I've been trying so hard

Can't get you out of my mind

& if this is how it has to be

Just promise you won't forget me

& I'll leave you with this lullaby

Tonight...."

Nate always sang that song when things weren't going right.

Through difficult times. I adored that song.

My eyes slowly began to close, I drifted away into a deep sleep.

Author's Note: The song is called Lullaby by Chase Coy. Go listen to it. :)
