Ella woke up extra early for her promise.
She quickly showered and went in her and Chun’s master bedroom to find the divorce papers.
The room was so cold.
She started looking through the drawer they both shared finding only old junk.
It didn’t take her long enough to find a thick, yellow enveloped.
Hoping that they were the divorce papers, she opened them.
It was pictures of Chun and Ariel.
Her heart shattered, if even possible.
She could feel that he must have missed her that much to keep the pictures out.
She wondered how often he looked at the pictures.
Did he look at them even after she left him?
Did he just started to miss her after running into her yesterday?
Without thinking, she ripped the pictures in half.
She screamed in anger,
Jealousy,
Defeat.
“I HATE YOU!!” She cried. “WHY DO YOU ALWAYS HAVE TO RUIN ME?! I HATE YOU!!” She continued to yell.
She searched for something to avenge her anger on after she ripped up all of the pictures of them together.
It didn’t take her long to find pictures of them together.
In fact she picked up the pictures from their wedding, where they were both holding fake smiles.
One after one, she threw the picture frames across the room.
And one after one they shattered.
Chun came running into the room with everyone else alarmed seeing Ella in her unusual state.
It must have been the hormones.
Ella looked at everyone who caught her in her abnormal state.
“You cheating bastard!! How long have you been doing this behind my back?!” Ella yelled pointing at him.
“ELLA!!--”
“Yesterday? Last month? After we got married? How long were you going to play me, Chun?” She yelled again.
“Ella, honey--” Mary tried to calm her down.
Chun looked around the room seeing shredded pieces of him and Ariel.
He had forgot that he still had the pictures.
He was going to throw them away after Ella left him.
But she would never believe him.
Everyone was silent after Chun didn’t answer.
“That long?” Ella asked. “You hurt me over and over again. What else do you want me to do for you so that you will be happy? Give up my life for you? I gave you my body and my heart. I have nothing more. What else could you want from me?” she held in the tears. “You want the company?”
“Stop talking about that!” Chun shouted at her.
“Why? You only married me for the company. And now you’re finding a way to get it back, right? Well congratulations, Mr. Wu. You have succeeded--”
“Ella I don’t want the god damn company!” Chun yelled.
“You’ve always tell me how hard you work on it, and that I’m the only one stopping you. And now that I’m giving it up, you tell me that you don’t want it? You are biggest, JACKASS, SON OF A BITCH I HAVE EVER KNOWN, WU CHUN!! And to think that I fell for you! Was I not good enough for you? So you went for Ariel instead?”
“Ella!”
“What? You’re getting embarrassed now? Well, ‘an eye for an eye’, Wu Chun. Now you know how it feels to be hurt in front of everyone by the one person that you thought loved you.”
He saw how sad and hurt she was.
But most of all, he saw anger.
And he tried to look for love inside of the redden eyes, but he didn’t find it.
He told himself that she still loved him, he’ll just her time.
After what seemed like an eternity, she made the first movement and wiped her tears and the soaked hair at flew into her eyes.
She glanced at the people surrounding her, and realized that she had just embarrassed herself.
“I don’t want to see you again.” she said loudly for him to hear.
He was surprised to hear her voice sound so…powerful.
“Fine. We’ll have our divorce legal, right now.” Chun said and headed for the shower.
---
“Damn!” Chun searched for the papers everywhere, but he wasn’t successful.
He was getting mad.
He wanted to make her happy, finally.
But he couldn’t remember where he put the damn papers..
“Chun, Ella’s waiting downstairs.” Mary entered the room.
Chun sighed. “Tell her..” he looked at his mother sadly. “tell her, we can’t. I can’t find the papers.”
“Chun, you’ve hurt her enough.” Mary scolded.
“I know, but I don’t remember where I put the papers. I swear they were in the locked suitcase I had in the closet. I’m the only one who has the keys to it. I don’t remember if I put them somewhere else.” Chun sat down on the bed.
This day was not going too good for him.
“You don’t want this divorce do you?” Mary asked sitting next to him.
Chun didn’t answer.
“Do you realize that you’re the only one that’s keeping her together? You’re the only one that matters to her.” Chun sighed even harder.
“You‘re not helping, Ma.”
“think about how you would feel, if you saw Ella with another man. And who knows, maybe she left you for another man.”
“Ma--”
“My point is, if Ella was to run away again, you are never going to see her again. What are you going to do then?”
Chun thought about it.
What was he going to do without her?
He was willing to admit that he was heads over heels for this lady.
She was the only one who made his heart fluttered the way it did.
“She’s still waiting downstairs, Chun. How much longer are you going to let her wait for you?”
---
Chun walked down the stairs terrified.
For the first time in his life, he was terrified.
He could imagine her packing up her belongings and leaving him for good.
“Where are the papers?” Ella asked.
He could feel the sweat on his palms.
“I can’t find..the papers.” he said.
Ella stared at him, unbelievably.
After of not saying anything, she walked past him and into the guest room.
He followed her. And saw her taking out a suit case.
“Ella, I’m sorry. I’m not sure where I put the papers. I couldn‘t--I know I had them somewhere--I just--I couldn’t find them.” He said as he watched her packing up her clothing.
He only got up when he saw that she was done packing.
“I’ll take you home.” he said and headed for the car.
