Chun dropped her off at her home and he drove off.
He was mad at himself, no doubt, because he didn’t stop her.
He only had a week left before it came to the wedding. And he thought that when the wedding was done, she’ll definitely return to America, leaving him again.
But he guessed he deserved it.
He couldn’t keep hurting her.
It was time to finally let her go and let her be happy.
---
Ella entered her room with her belonging all packed in one corner.
But she noticed that there were more of her belongings.
As if on cue, her cell phone starting ringing. She checked the id caller.
Mom calling.
“Ma…”
“Ella, are you home?”
“Yes, why?”
“You’re friend from America is here.”
“Becky?”
“Yes.”
“Oh, ok.”
“Do you want me to send her over there?”
“Sure.”
---
“I was sad to hear that you weren’t coming back.” Becky said.
“Sorry. Thanks for bringing me all of my stuff back.”
“It’s fine. It gives me an excuse for leaving the country.” Ella forced a smile. “Oh, boss told me to give you this.” Becky handed her an envelope. It was her pay check.
“Thank you.”
Becky could see how sad she was. “Ella, what’s wrong?” Ella didn’t look at her. “Did you get into a fight with your husband?”
Ella sadly nodded. “Did he hurt you?”
Ella didn’t know how to answer this question. Yes, he had hurt her, but not physically.
She shook her head. “Becky, let’s go out before you leave for America.” Ella said changing the topic.
“Ella--”
“Please? Don’t you want to see Taipei more?” Becky nodded after hearing the hurt in her voice.
---
The wedding was three days away.
She didn’t give up on the company. In fact, after the fight, Ella returned back to work, learning about the company with Mike acting like nothing had happened.
The day after she moved out she begged Mary and Mike forgiveness for her rude behavior. She was embarrassed.
Mary and Mike weren’t too mad.
They understood why she acted the way she did.
They were both just happy that they didn’t go through the divorce, yet.
---
“Ella, tomorrow will be your first day of working with Chun. Are you ready?” Mike asked.
“Why so soon? Well I see that you understand everything really well, so I thought it would be a good idea if you started working with Chun for awhile.”
Mike saw the uneasiness in Ella’s face. “Ella, you have to separate family business and work business. You can’t let one ruin the other.”
Ella nodded in understand-ment. “Ok, I’ll start tomorrow with Chun.”
