Tobias POV:
"It's time" Marcus tells me, he is wearing all black. I'm wearing all white and I'm standing in a field filled with tall yellow grass. Th sun shines bright over our heads. I look at my father. He leads me through the field toward a tree. The tree is tall and old, like the one at Amity. There is dead abnegation all around us laying in the grass. As we get closer I see Will and Eric laying lifeless in the grass surrounded by abnegation. I get to the tree and Jeanine Mathews stands under the tree in all black. Tris is dead and laying at the base of the tree, her white clothes stained red with blood. I fall to my knees. This can't be happening. " Four, you have committed treason, and you are sentenced to death." I look up at her, then I look at Marcus who nods st me. " Be brave Four, this is for your own good," he tells me like he used to when he beat me. Jeanine pulls out a gun and points it at my forehead. I close my eyes, take a breath, and open my eyes. "Goodbye son," Marcus tells me. The gun goes off. All I see is black.
My eyes open and I come to my senses. I am breathing really heavy, because of that dream. I has to be the worst dream I have had in a really long time. Tris is laying next to me, she is out cold as sleep raps itself around her. I look over to the other side of the room and everyone is scattered throughout the room. Uriah groans on the other side of the room. He sits up, and looks at me. I would lift up my hand to wave to Uriah, but Tris is laying on it. I turn my head so he can notice I'm awake. He waves his hand in the "let's go" sort of way. I nod and slowly slide from under Tris.
That was painful. I follow Uriah into the hallway. He brings me down the hall, and up the stairs, lots of stairs. I don'nt see why the elevator wasn't an option. I could really use it right about now. He leads me out the door and we are on the roof. It takes my eyes a long time to adjust even though its really cloudy outside. I stay as close as I can to the door. Heights, are not my specialty. As far as I know, it's still in my fear landscape. I look at my shoulder and its rapped in bandages, and I am still missing a shirt.
"Uriah, so why are we here?" I mumble. This is the first time I've tried to hold a conversation since I got shot, so it comes out like a groan.
Uriah looks at me funny, but I guess he figured out what I said. " Look at the zip-line" he says
"Yeah, what about it?" I don't care who is is, I'm not going near that thing to see what he is talking about.
"The cable has been cut." He says with a nervous tone in his voice. His feet play with the gravel that has been put on the roof.
"So?" I ask. " Hey, were are Peter and Caleb?" I need to see that they have been sitting there tied up to something for myself. I never got what there deal was and why they wanted out of the city so bad. I just wanted to know more about what's out there before I take the wall down.
I look at Uriah and he gives me a look and right then I know. "Uriah, how did they escape?"
"I think Caleb took one of the keys from me when I was being held hostage," he says. " Before you even ask me why I had two, I don't remember grabbing two keys."
The sound of really close thunder makes my ears ring. I can't even look at him right now. Everything is falling apart. For all I know, we are the only people in the city who still want to be here. Although, I don't know if the others, my own friends, want to stay or go.
I look at him and he looks like his head is going a thousand miles an hour. " Thanks for telling me." I mumble as I open the door to walk out. I just need to think. I walk to the one place that brings me peace in this whole building. The giant waterfall.
The waterfall is engulfed in a giant chasm in the pit. I climb down the rocks. I sit in the place were I first kissed Tris. It was only a a few weeks ago, but if feels like years. The mist from the waterfall engulfs me as I sit on the wet rocks. I just need to think.
