Tris POV:

We have been in and out of makeshift camps, just trying to get south in time for the invasion on the capital for the past few days. The horses didn't make it very far, so we decided that walking and finding whatever vehicle we could would be a better option. Ryan said something like the Rebels have a whole bunch of guns and machines to use against the capital. I think that this is going to end up in a lot of casualties. The Republic knows we are out there and waiting to attack.

All the rebels tell me stories about what life was like before the Republic. You could wear whatever you wanted, do anything, and you where free. That was stories their parents told them, and that generation is not around anymore. The Republic has been around for a very long time.

"Tris!" Christinna walks over to me with Uriah right at her side. They decided that they were going to start dating a couple days ago. "A messenger just came in, Brecken needs all of us."

I push myself off the soggy grass and follow her to where Brecken is standing. The only light we have is the moon. If we had any sort of fire, the Republic would see the smoke. I squint my eyes in order to make out the dark shapes around me. It is still hard to make out faces even with the moon shinning over us. Where did Tobias go? The thought crosses my mind, but I dismiss it. I need to focus on this right now. He probably is on a perimeter check. He goes on those every once in a while.

"A messenger came about an hour ago. The news is not looking so good." He starts while holding a crumpled piece of paper in his hands. " The Republic has caught two rebel camps just outside the capital. They were all executed. The Republic knows that something is going on." Brecken explains to us. It is always great when the people you are trying to sneak up on figure out that your there. I don't think that this is good at all, but we all knew it was a matter of time before they figured it out.

Tobias POV:

Our camp is near the border of Kentucky and Tennessee. I think that is what Brecken told me earlier. I really have no idea where that is, and all I know is we are going south to a city called Atlanta.

Zeke waves his hand in front of my face and points to the mud. He took me on a scouting of the area around the camp. Zeke decided that in order to figure out if we were being tracked, we were going to search the one mile radius around the camp every hour. A different group goes every time, being that it takes a long time to search the area.

I look down at the mud and see the foot print pressed into it. I pull out my silenced pistol and walk over to the print in the mud. I point out in front of me to motion for Zeke to cover me while I was bent over.

I bend down and lightly press my finger into the mud to see how fresh the track is. The mud is not completely dry, but it is still wet. I bring my eyes up to Zeke and he shrugs his shoulders at me. I motion to the print and take a step back for him to take a look at it. I bring my pistol up to cover Zeke.

He stands up and gives me the 'we are in a lot of trouble face'. I nod to his face. We really can't say anything or else we might me detected. He looks back at the shoe print and points in the direction the the print is going. He is point right to our camp.

I turn right on my heals and run. Maybe I can catch up to the person who's print it is before they get to the camp.

Tris POV:

"We are going right into a death trap." Uriah says to Brecken. I almost want to agree with him, but I know that invading the capital is the best option right now. I try not to think that my only option is a death trap.

" Pretty much. I would at this point say we could go back, and retreat." Brecken says to the group. "The only problem is that now that The Republic knows, they will try everything to make us stop. This note says that The Republic is threatening to use the remaining people from the Chicago against us. They captured them when they exited Chicago a day after we got you guys out. The letter warns that they will start executing people from Chicago if we will not turn ourselves in." Brecken reaches into his pocket and pull out a match. He strikes it on the tree right next to him and holds it up to the paper. He lets the paper burn to remove all the evidence.
