"Steve! Bucky! Get up! You're gonna be late for the party!"

Steve's moms voice rang in my head as I drifted out of my sleep. I stirred in my blanket on the floor, looking around Steve's room to find the clock.

10:42 am

"Holy cow Steve get up now!"

I threw off my blanket as quick as I could and ran over to Steve's small twin bed. He stirred quietly and shifted his body weight over to the side away from the wall, towards me, in an effort to seem awake.

"What Buck?"

He rubbed his eyes and sat up. I grabbed his hands and pulled the rest of him up.

"Your mom is going to have our heads! Your cousins birthday party starts at 11!"

He stood in the middle of the room, as I frantically pulled clothes out of his closet. I must've looked like a mad man throwing shirts out of his closet left and right, trying to find something nice for him to wear.

"Bucky relax its only like 8:30."

"Um Steve, it's 10:44."

I pointed to the clock and threw some clothes I settled on into his arms.

"I don't even see why we have to go but your mom said if we don't I'm not allowed to stay over this week."

"I don't even know which cousin it is." He mumbled.

"I think her name is Elizabeth or something, maybe Isabella, I don't know, but we have to get going Steve!"

"Alright. Alright. I'm coming."

He took his clothes and went into the only bathroom in the apartment as I walked out into the small, dark hallway leading to the kitchen. As I approached the end of the hall I walked into the living room to see Sarah staring across the empty space with her dull blue eyes.

"Good morning Bucky."

"Morning Mrs. Rogers."

I sat down in the old wooden chair by the kitchen table and stared at the bland brown walls. Come on, Steve... Hurry up.

Then I heard the door open and bolted up out of my seat.

"You ready Steve?"

"Are you? You didn't even change?"

I looked down at the khaki pants I ended up falling asleep in last night with my loose navy shirt.

"Eh whatever, no need."

I turned to face his mom and put my thumb up causing a slight smile to form on her fading face.

"Alright boys, let's go."

I opened the apartment door for Steve and as he stepped out, I followed and his mom locked the door behind us.

**********

We walked for a good 20 minutes until we actually came to the girls house. Steve walked up behind his mother, and myself behind him. She knocked on the door and turned to talk to us.
