Gracie's POV

"You already know each other?" Lin was shocked, His eyes got huge. I looked ashamed, my head dropped down. My intention was for them to never find out that I was a foster kid. Honestly like once they found out, they would think I was dirty, street kid. I mean I was but I didn't want them to find out about it.

Stephan took a breath and began, "Of course, Grace has been in my client list for years, in and out of many houses. "

He saw the look on my face, he showed a sympathetic smile for me.

"You're a a-" Lin was shocked, He could barely gets the words out of his small mouth. He looked like the mix of shocked and disappointed for me. Now, Lin is going to want nothing to do with me. He was such a good person, with everyone. Every single person here was good. I didn't deserve it anyways.

"A foster kid." I  finally claimed, I had never told anyone that. The only people that knew was Stephan, Ethan, and I. I once again dropped her head, feeling ashamed of myself and the situation.

"We took her home yesterday and went by her school. "

"Bronx City? Yeah, not the best part of town. I was wondering why her grades dropped."

"Well, the thing is. If you're smart at my school, then you get beaten up."

"Is that why you were beaten up?" Lin spoke to me.

No, the real reason was because people didn't want me at their school. After English, I was walking to my next class. Then this 12th graders pushed me down and told me I was a 'cracker' and I should be using my white privilege to go to a prep school.

"No, I-uh I got beaten up for being a cracker."

"Yeah, you might want to move schools. Again. "

"Look, We don't think it's a safe place for her. People adore her here. We want what's best for her." Lin delivered, sitting next to me, he patted me on the back, "We don't want her coming home from school, with black eyes and bloody lips."

"Look, we appreciate your interest in Gracie, but..." Man, just when I thought life could get better," Foster Care is a hard business to do..."

"What if someone here could adopt Gracie." He suggested. Did he just use the word adopt. You don't use the word adopt unless you truly mean it. I can't believe he said that because Lin surely didn't mean it,

Stephan looked up from his clipboard, while staring through his glasses.

"You know someone who would want to adopt little Gracie."

Little Gracie, always my nickname.

"Off course," Lin spoke again, "The people here love her. People who want to help, with everything she needs."

"You sound like you want what's best for Gracie, We can have a  temporary guardianship. Who will it be sent to?"

"Anthony Ramos and Jasmine Cephas Jones" Anthony bursts into the room, with Jas not far behind.
They had defiantly been eavesdropping every word.

Stephan, Lin, and I whip their head back. I was speechless. Lin was confused. Stephan was intrigued.

"Who are you?" Stephan stood up in a confused fashion, in a wary state of mind.

"The person who wants the absolute best for Gracie." Jasmine says. They both had this joyous look on their faces.

Anthony's POV

As soon as we busted up in that meetings, Gracie was sent out of the room. I guess if it doesn't work out then no point and getting her hopes up.

"Look, we are Broadway actors. Yes, but we have the money to supply for and care for Gracie. We have already seen how she can change the room she walks into. "

"She is a very special kid. I'm feel for her being in the system. Not that any kid deserves to be in the system. Gracie is different....you have to remember this, as we proceed with this meeting."

"Can I ask why she got here, I mean in foster care?" I asked.

Stephan tensed up in his chair, that's not good.

"When she was a baby, she had teenagers who were her parents. They had set up for her to be adopted. However after the delivery there were some complications. She had to have brain surgery, and by that time..."

"Nobody would want a kid that had various medical procedures." Jazzy said, Stephan nodded.

"We can start with temporary guardianship today, but we will have to do a home study, various inspections. Stuff like that."

Gracie's POV

Many minutes later, Anthony, Lin, Jasmine, and Sephan walk out.

"I look forward to seeing you at the court date, Mr. Ramos."

"We will be there." Anthony shook his hand.

Lin started grinning like a child in a candy store. It was almost weird. A nervously stood up to a confident Stephan Sauls.

Stephan pulled me aside from the rest of them, "I hope this works out. They seem like good people. But.....If it doesn't work out. The key is under the door. " Stephan said, giving me a comforting pat on the back.

"Gotcha. Steph"

With that said, Stephan left the building. I looked around. There was no Anthony, Jasmine, or ever Lin. All that was left was a happy Thomas Kail.

"Hey, so I heard the news," He had a very big grin on his face. I started to think about Anthony and Jasmine as parents, or harder...as my parents. I had never had even parental figures in my life. This was going to be different...a change in life.

"I'm excited. I hope it works out!" I kinda slightly drop my head, just a tiny bit.

"Hey, kiddo, Its gonna work out. I can't promise that, but I'm really hoping it will. " He gave a tight hug.

"Gracie! Come upstairs" She turned around to Renée, mid-stairs. I ran upstairs, so quickly that Tommy just gave a grateful smile.
