Chapter 61

Gracie's POV

"Are you going to take it." Jeremy asked me as I unlocked the greasy door to my family apartment.

"I'm thinking about it." I pushed the door open, to see Anthony sitting at the table with Jasmine. "Thank you for taking me out on a day off fun day. I really appreciate it, JJ."

"Is that JJ?" I hear Anthony's voice from the kitchen. I painfully smiled. "Yes." I said.

"Hey, Anthony. How's the show going?"

He put his hand up on the door, "It's good! What about Newsies? I've heard it's doing well, but I just haven't had the chance to see it yet. "

"Well, If you ever get the chance to come by the Nederlander Theatre, we would love to have you." Jeremy offered, "I got to head home, but nice spending some time with you, Gracie." He smiled.

"Thanks, man." Jeremy shook Anthony's hand.

I walked into the living room, where Jasmine was feeding Finley. Anthony and I sat down next to her.

"How was your day? I heard you auditioned for Newsies. How was that?" Jazzy asked, as she rocked Finley back to sleep.

I breathed in, "I saw the show, and just did it. I auditioned. I sang Katherine's song. I think I did well."

"So?"

"So, are you going to take it? I mean I assume they offered you the role. What? "

I didn't tell him that. "How did you know?"

"You don't think they were going to hand you a contract without contacting Lin. He's Lin. " Anthony said, rolled his eyes and put his hands on my shoulders.

"Oh." Gracie said, and sat down next to Jasmine.

"I want to see the contract. " Jasmine said.

She sat up, and I handed her my backpack. She pulled a folder out of my bag. I watched as she studied the paper.

The door swung open, and came in Lin Manuel Miranda in ponytails. "What's up? I heard we were signing things? " He walked to the living room and plopped in on the couch.

"Do all of you have a secret group chat I don't know about." I asked.

He laughed, "No. Kara Lindsay and Jeff Calhoun called when they offered you the role. "

"It's right here, Lin. They want to sign her for two years." Jasmine said. She handed him the contract. "She would start in early February. "

"Sounds reasonable. What are you waiting for? Go ahead and sign it."

"Oh-okay."

"How about we sit at the table. " Anthony said, and led me to the table.

"Yes. Let me get my phone. I want to record this." Lin said.

I pulled up a chair and sat down. It looked like the same contract I signed for Hamilton, but it said Newsies at the top.

Lin found his phone, and started to record. "Gracie is signing her contract for Newsies. Hey, who you going to play?" He nudged me.

"I'm going to be playing Katherine Plumber. I'm taking over for Kara Lindsay since she is leaving to go be in Wicked." I signed a few things. It basically said that I would show up to rehearsals, perform the role I was assigned, and vacation days I have to use.

"Her first lead role. She is very excited. Are you going to miss Hamilton?"

I kinda hadn't thought about leaving, but I knew when I did it would be rough. I said, "I am. I'm going to miss this the people and show."
