Chapter 24

"That cave is way too creepy to not have monsters in it!" Said Harry when we walked upon a large cave near the outskirts of the jungle.

We have been hunting for a few hours now, killing jungle animals and Harry tamed a small cat type creature. They aren't that strong so I don't know why he bothered to tame it.

"Yeah, but do you think we are strong enough though??
We can always come back?"
I asked him trying to see inside the dark cave.

"Na lets go!" Said Harry excitedly.
"Wait!" I called out.
Harry stopped just before he got inside.

"Send in the cat thing.
See if it survives"
I said and Harry liked the idea and then the cat slowly started walking into the cave.
Even the cat didn't seem to want to go in.

After a few minutes Harry jumped.
"What!? What is it?" I asked.

"I just got a notification that the cat died.
There is definitely something down there"
Said Harry as he pulled out his spear.

"You sure that you want to go in?" I asked a little worried.

We are fairly high levels but we don't know how strong the monsters down there are.
Or if it's a boss type monster.

"I dibs any legendary gear if it's a boss" yelled Harry as he made a small fire in his palm and rushed into the cave.

"Harry!! Wait up!"
I yelled before quickly equipping my armor including my legendary greaves. And grabbed a steal shield and an shadow ore sword.
I started walking into the cave.

Harry must have been pretty far ahead because it's pitch black and I can't see Harry's fire at all.

I put my shield on my back and opened my palm.

I've inly managed to do this once in worlds best, but I repeated the steps Harry had shown me a few days ago.

I closed my eyes and took deep breaths. I imagined a small flame and then the flame grew and grew until it was about the size of my hand.

I could feel the heat so I opened my eyes and found my hand on fire.

"Awesome" I whispered.

I continued to walk down the steep cave until I tripped over something.

The flame went out so a few minutes later I could see what I tripped over.

The fire light rested on the bloody corps of Harry...
"Harry" I whispered.
I had a quick flash back to when I found Jake almost a year ago.

His throats ripped out, and he has a large claw mark down his chest.
Right through his armor.
The same armor that I'm wearing...

On the ground is bones and other rotting carcasses, twigs and rocks.

I slowly knelt down and lit the twigs on fire. More light started to fill the cave and I saw what had killed Harry.

A vampire!

It didn't look like one of those vampires you see in the movies with the long cape and pale face.
This vampire looked almost human except for the fangs, red eyes and the blood dripping from his face.
Harry's blood.

The vampire sort of hissed at me and ran towards me with its hand ready to claw at me.
Except his nails are much longer than normal nails.
His looked almost like talons.

I can't fight this thing!!

I started to run out of the cave.
I felt terrible for leaving Harry's body and belongings. But maybe a group can come back and retrieve them.

I was thrown forward after the vampire must have jumped on my back.
I tried turning as I fell and I landed on the vampire.
Squishing him between my shield and the ground.

The vampire winched from the pain and started clawing at the shield.

It then pushed me off him and my whole body was thrown into the cave roof.
That hurt, and so did hitting the ground.

I got up as quickly as I could and grabbed my shield from my back.

After seeing it I dropped it on the floor because it was useless with all the large claw marks going right through the steel.

I started running again and this time I got outside.

It was still bright outside and i was hoping that the vampire couldn't be in the sun.

I turned around to see the vampire standing at the cave entrance.
I smiled. He can't get me.

The vampire smiled showing off his silver fangs.
He stepped out of the cave into the sun and it didn't affect him at all.

Shit.....

It rushed at me again and I swing at its chest.

I did a fair amount of damage but the creature didn't seem that affected and slashed at my arm.

Blood soaked my clothes from the scratches and I could tell that the vampire was just toying with me.

But the thing is.. I watch tv.
And even if sunlight doesn't work, garlic doesn't work And even if silver doesn't work... A vampire can't survive without a head.

I swung at its neck but the vampire caught my blade with its bare hands...

The vampire then opened its mouth and chomped down on my throwing arm.

The vampire let go, my blood dripping from its mouth. It pushed my wound into its cut on its chest and laughed.

The pain from the scratches on my arms and chest were burning and I felt like I was being drained of my energy.

I dropped to the ground. My sword laid on the ground next to me. I held my arm and closed my eyes from all the pain.

The vampire whispered in my ear..
"Think of it as a gift" Is all he said before I had a throwing knife through his neck.

The vampire tried to say something but the blood was stopping him from talking or breathing.

I stood up and grabbed my sword.
The vampire looked up at me with tears in its eyes.
It gargled "please don't!"
But I brought the blade down, severing its head from its body.

(Achievement: hight level creature killed)
(XP gained)
(26 levels increased)

That's when I passed out from the pain.
