Chapter 20

"What are we doing here?" I asked him and he smiled. This hospital brought back so many memories I've worked hard with forgetting. We walked inside the main entrance and the old lady behind the desk looked up at us. She was grey haired and looked kind. When she saw us she smiled.

"Niall! They're waiting for you." She smiled and Niall returned it. Who are 'they'?

"Okay, Dawn." he answered and she looked at me.

"And who are this beauty?" The old lady asked nicely and Niall's face started to turn red. Was he blushing?

"Dawn, this is Lexie. Lexie meet Dawn." I reached out my hand to greet her but she pulled me in for a hug. It took me a few minutes before I reacted then hug her back.

"Nice to meet you." I said and she couldn't stop smiling.

"So you are the one that Niall's been talking about. He couldn't shut up about you and..." she was talking but then Niall interrupted her.

"Okay Dawn, that's enough." He said embarrassed. Had Niall been talking about me? Dawn laughed and told us to get moving to where we supposed to be. Niall dragged me to a lift and we waited. The lift came and Niall pressed the 3rd floor. The lift started moving and in a few seconds we were at the 3rd floor.

"This way." Niall said and grabbed my hand.

 I looked down and saw our hands intertwining and I smiled to myself. He dragged me down the hall and then suddenly we stood outside a room. On the silver plate it stood "Children's Department". I turned to Niall with a puzzled look and he just smiled.

He dragged me inside the room and I looked around. The walls were covered in colours and handprints in different colours everywhere. There were kids sitting on the floor playing with toys and when they saw Niall they got the biggest smiles on their faces. What the...?

There was no way Niall was around kids often was it? I mean he doesn't seem like a guy that even likes kids. Stop with the judging Lexie! You don't know him. I told myself and pushed the thought back in my head.

"Niall!" A little girl said and ran over to him. Niall picked the little girl up and she giggled. She was around four maybe and had light brown hair and green eyes. She was so sweet.

"Hey Rose. Missed me?" Niall asked and she nodded her head while smiling. Aw, that was adorable! Niall put her down on the floor again and the kids were already sitting in a circle. Niall and I sat down and he showed me a smile before he turned to the kids.

"Hey guys!" Niall said excited and all the kids smiled and said 'hey' back. A nurse in her 30's handed Niall a guitar and all the kids clapped their hands.

"What shall we play today?" Niall asked and one kid raised his hand.

"Yes, Milo?" Niall asked and waited for an answer.

"I think you should play the usual." He said and all the other kids nodded their head. What's the usual?

"Okay." Niall said and started to strum on the guitar. He was actually really good! He played a little while before he started to sing in a deep, silly voice.

"C is for cookie..." Omg, the cookie song by the cookie monster from Sesame Street. All the kids laughed and sang along. So this what was Niall wanted to show me? This is absolutely adorable and I can tell by the way that Niall smiles and laughs with them that he likes doing this.

Niall finished the song and the kids clapped.  The room grew quiet and then another kid raised his hand.

"Yes?" Niall asked him.

"Who is that?" The little boy asked and pointed at me. Niall laughed and smiled.

"This is my friend, Lexie. Say hi." Niall said and all the kids said hi to me.

"Hi". I said back and smiled at them. A few more songs after all the kids were all over the room and played with their toys again.

 "You're really good with the kids. And playing the guitar." I said to Niall and he blushed for the second time today.

"Yeah, who'd know?" He asked and I laughed.
