Chapter 21

After Niall had said goodbye to the kids, we walked to the elevator and got to the lobby. Dawn sat behind the desk with her glasses on the edge of her nose and read some sort of magazine. She looked up when she saw Niall and I heading towards the exit. 

"Hope to see you again sometime!" She said and I smiled at her.

"Yeah, you too!" I said and Niall wrapped an arm around my waist. I felt my cheeks warming up and I bet I was red as a tomato. Dawn smirked and Niall said goodbye. We reached the car and got inside. Niall started the engine and I sat there quiet before I spoke.

"You are great with kids." I tried to compliment him but he just shrugged his shoulders.

"No, I am not." He stated and I looked at him.

"Are you serious? They look up to you." I said while smiling and he returned. It went silent for a while until I spoke again.

"Why do you go there?" I asked and Niall kept his eyes on the road. He didn't answer.

"Niall?" I asked again and he looked at me before his eyes once again landed on the road.  

"I'll tell you some other time." He huffed.

"Why not now?" I asked him and he furrowed his eyebrows.

"Because I don't want to talk about it" His voice was raspy. 

"Why not? I've told you things about me that I've never told anyone about but you won't tell me anything. That's not fair." I said and he clenched the steering wheel. I knew he was becoming angry.

"Well life isn't fair." He said just as he pulled up to my flat. I looked at him while he just stared out the window. 

"You know what?" I asked him.

"What?" he spat and I was furious with his attitude.

"I've never opened up to someone like I did with you. And I don't get anything back. So fuck you." I said as I got out of his car and rushed up to my flat, furious but also hurt.
