Chapter 27 : Welcome back Lucas

Josh's pov:

When I saw Lucas at the park, I was so shocked. Not only shocked, but nervous too. The last time I saw him, we had some kind of argument, I guess. But now that he's back, I don't know what to do. But all I care is Maya, she obviously haven't stop crying since me and Riley told her that Lucas left. And now, when Maya starting to be happy again, Lucas suddenly appears. I don't ever want to see Maya hurt again.

"Maya?" I was so concerned. I looked at her and Maya's eyes almost bugged out of her head. She was frozen in shock at what she saw.

"Maya, let's go" I led her to my car and I opened the door for her, trying to act like a gentleman. She looked at Lucas once more before getting in the car and then she got in with no words.

"I don't understand. Why did he came back?" She say in a whisper while looking out the window. Tears were forming in her eyes.

"I'm sorry Maya" I say in a whisper.

I looked at her, and I swear I feel my heart broke when I saw a tear falls down her cheek.

Once I stop the car in front of her house, she unbuckle her seatbelt and grab her purse. Just as she's about to open the car door, I held her hands.

"Look at me" I said softly, looking into her crystal blue eyes. "Please don't cry" I rubbed the tear trickling down her cheek. And then, she broke down into tears. I sighed and pull Maya closer to me and hug her so tight

I let go of the hug, she smiled at me and then get out of the car. Once she got in her house, I quickly start my car and go to Lucas's house

Once I arrived at his house, My hands were sweating and I was so nervous. The last time I saw him we were fighting. And I'm scared that he's still mad at me.

I stepped in the doorway and rang the bell. Suddenly the door flew open and I saw Lucas standing there.

"Hey Josh" He greeted as I got in her house.

"Hey Lucas" I paused for a second. "So you're back"

"Yeah, I actually just got back-"

I cut him off by asking "Yeah I don't care, why did you came back??"

"Well, I've been thinking about what you said, and... I guess you're right. I can't just leave LA, I mean there's so much memories here. And I can't just leave my best friend here" Lucas smiled

"Yeah.." I walked over and sit on his couch, putting my head on my hands.

"You okay? You need to talk?" Lucas appeared beside me. But I just stay quite. "It's about Maya isn't it?" I sighed and I nodded. "Oh.."

"You need to talk to her"

"No, I don't. Why should I? She made her decision to forget about me forever, so I just have to accept it and let it go" Lucas's voice got a little louder and I took a step away from him.

"So you're just going to give up on her?" I asked.

"Yeah I do. I mean, why should I fight for her? She already made it clear that she doesn't want to be with me"

"Wait, what do you mean?" I asked, genuinely confused.

"That day at the park, She told me that we have no hope of getting back together" He sighed and looked down. My phone starts to ring, I grab my phone out of my pocket and looks at the screen. Riley's calling. I immediately think that something's wrong with Maya.

"Is everything okay?" Lucas asked me.

"Yeah, fine sorry" I replied with a lie. "But I really got to go"

"Ok yeah, I'll see you around"

And then we exchange goodbye. And I go outside and got into my car. I quickly called Riley.

"Hello?"

"Hey Riles, is something wrong?" I asked, worried.

"What? No. Nothing's wrong" She replied.

"Then, why did you call?" I asked her, confused.

"Oh, I was just asking if Maya's okay" She replied.

I gave a long sigh "Yeah, she's fine"

"Oh, okay. byeeeeee" She hung up.

I quickly drove home. I really want to jump out of this car and go to my room. I'm really exhausted. Thank god that it's summer break, so I don't have school tomorrow.
