THE DECEASED
eleven | ❝fucking fantastic❞

PAINFUL DARTS INVADED AURORA'S HEAD as she stumbled towards a table where the group was eating breakfast. Though still in a mania mood, Aurora was dying from a brutal hangover after having drank an idiotic amount of alcohol. The evening was a blur for the most part, and all Aurora could remember was Glenn and Andrea helping her to a room. It was there that Aurora woke up on a couch, groaning and muttering profanities.

However, had Aurora not have gotten drunk, she wouldn't of been able to sleep. And that sleep probably did her some good, given it was the first night in a few days she had been able to rest her brain.

"How are you doing?" Jacqui asked as Aurora pulled herself a chair to the table. Her hair was drawn into a messy bun, but not the cute type. Her hair was stuck to her cheek with either alcohol or saliva, and having been too drunk to shower, Aurora didn't smell like the nicest of flowers.

"Fucking fantastic," Aurora remarked, sarcastically. As she rested her head against the table, she tapped her foot against the ground impatiently waiting for something interesting to happen.

"You did drink a full bottle." Lori said, pressing her lips together. Aurora groaned, shifting her head to allow her hair to cover her face. The room was spinning and shaking as she tried to regain her sanity and energy to make it through the rest of the day in one piece.

"Protein helps the hangover," T-Dog muttered, sliding a plate of eggs towards Aurora. The woman lifted her head up, stared at the eggs, then groaned.

"The only thing I can eat is the bones of death himself," Aurora whispered, pushing the plate away from her. T-Dog chuckled before taking the eggs for himself, his eyes brows raised at Aurora.

"Doctor, I don't mean to slam you with questions first thing-" Dale began. His voice grew louder as Dale walked towards the table, his eyes fixated one Edwin. Aurora hadn't noticed him, or Andrea, as she lifted her head off from the table slowly. Andrea smiled kindly at Aurora as she did this.

The previous night when Aurora was lying against the couch, she could hear Andrea crying in the bathroom. One part of Aurora wanted to go and comfort her, but her legs didn't seem to work at the time. But now Aurora assumed that Andrea was fine, judging by her more neutral expression. Then again, Andrea was wearing the same facial expression that had been worn by Aurora's ex girlfriend, Naomi, before she took her own life.

"We didn't come here for the eggs," Andrea said. Aurora glanced up to see that almost everyone was gathered around the large computer space. Glenn was by Aurora's side, helping her to her feet, a small smile spread across her cheeks.

"Playback of TS-19 " Vi, the computer, repeated. A video of a human brain appeared on the screen; a blur to Aurora's hungover eyes.

"Few people ever got to see this," Edwin explained, "very few."

"That's cause there's no internet," Aurora whispered to Glenn, now becoming bored by the silence that had fallen over the CDC."

"Is that a brain?" Carl asked, his brown eyes widening as he watched the screen with curiosity.

"An extraordinary one," Edwin smiled, but his smile was exchanged for an uneasy frown, "not that it matters in the end. Take us in for EIV."
