THE DECEASED
three | ❝Dammit, tell that jackass to give us some advice❞

"Hey, are you alive in there?"

AURORA AND RICK STARED AT each other, confused, before then glaring at the radio. Rick grabbed it as Aurora examined the tank, attempting to find another way out. The sound of the walkers clawing outside was making her feel sick, their snarling a constant reminder of being trapped. And the voice on the other end of the radio wasn't helping; it anything, it made Aurora more nervous.

"Hello? Hello?" Rick said into the radio, his voice racked with nerves.

"There you are. You had me wondering," the voice finally spoke, sounding relived. He sounded young, maybe the same age as Aurora.

She yanked the radio from Rick, harshly, realising that he was struck at the possibility of other people being alive. Aurora breathed out deeply, her lips pressed against the small device.

"Can you see us?" she questioned, gulping, "where are you?"

"Oh," the voice rang again, "So there's two dumb asses."

"Answer the question," Aurora snarled. Her heart had jolted suddenly as a large bang came from outside, the walkers fighting to get inside.

"Yeah, I can see you. You're surrounded by walkers. That's the bad news," the voice explained, heaving a sigh.

"There good news?" Rick asked, taking the radio back from Aurora, a tone of hope in his voice. The radio was silent for a while, but Aurora knew the outcome already. How can there be good news when you're surrounded by flesh eating monsters?

"No," the voice responded, bluntly.

"Listen, whoever you are, I don't mind telling you that we're a little concerned in here," Rick said, rolling his eyes in disbelief.

"Oh man, you should see if from here. You'd be having a major freak-out," the voice coughed out, almost laughing.

"Dammit, tell that jackass to give us some advice," Aurora angrily said to Rick.

"Got any advice for us?" Rick questioned, heaving a sigh.

"Yeah," the voice came, "I'd say make a run for it."

Aurora leaned over Rick, snatching the radio from his hands and yelling, "make a run for it? That's it?!"

"My way's not as dumb as it sounds. You've got eyes on the outside here. There's one geek still up on the tank but the others have climbed down and joined the feeding frenzy where the horse went down. With me so far?" the voice explained. Aurora's eyes were glistening with a crazy look, as if she would actually murder everyone and everything getting in her way.

"Yeah," Rick nodded, turning to Aurora. She shrugged, knowing there wasn't anything to be done. Holding her knife tightly, she stood up onto her knees, examining the roof for an exit whilst Rick continued his strangely calm conversation with the stranger.

"Okay, the street on the other side of the tank is less crowded. If you move now while they're distracted, you stand a chance. Got ammo?" the voice asked.
