THE DECEASED

AURORA LAY ON THE RV floor, waiting for sleep to come. She knew it would be a few days before she would be back to normal, or at least as close to normal as possible. Daryl was out looking for Sophia, Rick and Lori were with Carl, and Shane and Andrea were probably off having hate sex.
As she stared at the ceiling, she thought about what Glenn had say, and how he looked at her. She felt her breathing hitch and her heart accelerate. It was the way he looked at her. The way his eyes studied every part of her, the way she had looked at him time and time again.
The door carefully opened, shining a small ray of light across Auroa's face. She groaned loudly, pulling the pillow over her head, shifting her weight so she was facing away from whoever had walked in. The shuffling of feet moved next to her, and she felt someone sitting down on the blanket beside her.
"Can I talk to you?" Glenn's voice came. Aurora rolled over and looked at him. He was lying next to her, his head on the pillow, their hairs intertwined.
"I need your advice," Glenn said, nudging Aurora slightly.
"What's up?" Aurora asked. She turned so she was facing him, and he did the same. Their faces were inches away. She felt his warm breath against her face.
He sighed, his eyes darting from Aurora, to the ceiling, and then back again. It was like he was trying to figure out how to say something. The uncertainty made Aurora anxious. She sat up, dragging Glenn with her.
"Did something bad happen?" Aurora asked. Glenn bit his lip, then shook his head.
"Do you think, I mean, we're friends, right?" Glenn said, his head tilted slightly down. Aurora pushed down her hurt and nodded. "Do you think I have a shot with Maggie?"
Aurora stared at Glenn. He stared back. Aurora wanted to call him an idiot, and scream that she was right in front of him. But that's stupid, seeing as they're just friends.
"I only ask because, you know we're so close. And I know you'd never-" Glenn's voice trailed of, and he shook his head. "Forget it."
He stood up, but Aurora grabbed his hand. He stopped and looked down. Aurora's hand was clasped around his, unmoving. She didn't say anything. She couldn't breathe. She was scared to let go, because if she did, she could lose him. God, she felt like an idiot. A high schooler with a dumb crush.
"Rory?"
"What do you mean?" Aurora asked, finally finding the courage to look him in his eyes. "You know I'd never what?"
"I said forget it."
And he walked out.

Aurora sat in silence in the RV for what felt like forever. She stayed on the floor, staring across at the wall, looking into nothing. She was fighting the urge to hit something, or to cry, or to cuss. Did she mess everything up? Andrea opened the door of the RV and walked in, seeing Aurora on the floor.
"Are you okay?" she asked, stepping over Aurora to get to the table and chair. "Hey, Rory?"
Aurora grinned a little bit. She liked the nickname sticking. Standing up, Aurora spun to face Andrea and nodded.
