THE DECEASED

AURORA LOOKED DOWN AT THE crowd of walkers, her heart pounding as her eyes locked with the sickening sight. The growling, the smell of blood, everything was overwhelming her. Her lower lip trembled as the though of the barn door breaking and the hoard killing everybody she held dear to her heart. And an uncontrollable rage seeped through her skin as she thought about the Greene family. How their ignorance could risk the safety of her group; it infuriated her.
She opened her mouth, her hands shaking, her grip around her knife tighening all the more as she thought of her options. Killing all the walkers would be suicide, and yet, she didn't know what else to do. Just as words had made their way up her throat to call for Shane, she felt a feminine hand wrap around her mouth.
"Sh-" Aurora shouted, before she was cut off. She fell backwards onto the person behind her, flipping herself over and pinning the person down with her knee. She held her knife to their neck, before registering who it was.
"What the hell?" Maggie hissed, breathing heavily, trying to not let the knife cut her. Aurora rolled her eyes, standing up from the woman and allowing her some space.
"You scared the shit out of me," Aurora spat, pointing her knife to Maggie.
"You shouldn't be in here," Maggie muttered. Aurora squinted, wondering whether Maggie was naïve, or just stupid.
"Let me get this straight," Aurora started. "You're telling me that I shouldn't be here, yet you have fucking walkers locked up?"
"They're sick," Maggie protested. Aurora shook her head, running her hand through her hair. Everything was coming at her at once, and she had a million scenarios running through her head.
"You're," Aurora breathed, "the sick one. How could you? When Rick finds out. When Shane, Andrea, Glenn-"
"They're not going to find out," Maggie said, sternly. Aurora coughed out a hollow laugh, rubbing her temples. She was stood no less than a metre from walkers, and she couldn't bare to imagine watching everybody die because she had the chance to stop it.
"What makes you think that?" Aurora challenged, raising her eyebrow.
"Because if you tell them, Daddy will kick you off the farm," Maggie warned, now eyeing Aurora up and down, matching her attitude, "you'll have nowhere to go."

Aurora woke up the next morning to an abundance on blankets surrounding her as she lay on the RV floor. Naturally, her mind backtracked to the previous night, and she thought that the barn walkers were a dream. But she knew it couldn't of been. How could she have imagined that? It's sick. That wasn't the thing that confused Aurora, though. After returning to the RV from the barn, she couldn't sleep, so she stayed on top of the RV, staring at the barn carefully.
And then, it clicked. She had been taking her usual dose of lithium again. The last thing she remembered was watching the barn, and then... nothing. Did she pass out? Did her body finally get the sleep it craved?
"You're awake," Andrea said as soon as Aurora stepped out from the RV. She stretched out, her jumper tattered at the sleeves from the endless nervous picking at the seams. Aurora looked up and smiled at Andrea, who was lying on the roof with the sniper.
