THE DECEASED

"SO THATS IT, HUH? YOU'RE just gonna walk off? Just to hell with everybody else?" Shane shouted at Rick, who was making his way to the truck. Aurora rolled her eyes angrily as her feet hit the stone covered ground outside the RV. A cold breeze waved through her hair, the mild weather nice for a change, given there had been that storm a few days ago.

"I'm not saying to hell with anybody," Rick scowled, averting his attention back to Shane. The two men stared at each other, and Aurora feared that one of them would lunge at the other and fight. Rick wouldn't do something like that, though, but maybe Shane would.

"Could you throw me a bone here, man? Could you just tell me why? Why would you risk your life for a douche bag like Merle Dixon?" Shane asked, catching up with Rick, as the man had begun walking back to the truck.

"Hey, choose your words more carefully," Daryl warned, holding his crossbow up to Shane, who rolled his eyes at this remark.

"No, I did. Douche bag's what I meant. Merle Dixon...the guy wouldn't give you a glass of water if you were dying of thirst," Shane hissed at Daryl.

"What he would or wouldn't do doesn't interest me. I can't let a man die of thirst. Thirst and exposure. We left him like an animal caught in a trap. That's no way for anything to die, let alone a human being," Rick explained, sternly. Glenn tugged on Aurora's sleeve, and they continued towards Rick.

"So you and Daryl, that's your big plan?" Lori said, crossing her arms. Silence fell around the came as Rick turned to look at Glenn, hopefully. The man's face dropped instantly.

"Oh, come on," Glenn moaned, his reaction making Aurora bite her lip to stop her laughing. She knew it wasn't a laughing matter, but the way that Glenn's eyebrows furrowed together in confusion was adorably funny. A pink tint rose in her cheeks as Glenn turned to look at her, his face riddled with frustration.

"You're coming with us then," Glenn muttered, squinting at Aurora. She choked out a laugh, before stepping away from him,

"Nice try, Glenn," she smirked, leaning back on her heels, "but I'm sitting this one out, bud. I deserve a break, don't you think?"

"Nice try, Aurora," Rick coughed, scratching the back of his head. Aurora raised her eyebrows, "but you're coming. You can fire a gun, we need you. And Glenn, you know the way. Lori would feel better with you along."

"That's just great," Shane scoffed, pacing around like a lion in a zoo enclosure, "you're gonna risk three men, huh?"

"Actually, I'm a woman," Aurora pouted, now being petty over Rick deciding her fate without her consent. Shane turned his head at Aurora, as if wanting to yell at her for being so annoying, but he thought better of it.

"Four people then," he sighed, rubbing his head. Aurora had to admit, she felt bad for Shane. He was trying to protect the group, and she could see how he would think that Rick wasn't being careful enough. And, especially since they were risking it all for Merle Dixon.

"Five," T-Dog muttered, stepping forward heroically.

Daryl scoffed and rolled his eyes. "My day just keeps better and better don't it," he spat, the redneck accent beginning to annoy Aurora.
