THE DECEASED
twenty four | ❝why are you awake?❞

AURORA WAS WITH ANDREA AND T-Dog, walking around the farm, appreciating the warm weather. Though Aurora was tempted to tell her two friends about what Shane and Rick had been talking about, she bit her lip, knowing it would just cause conflict. Instead, the trio found other things to talk about. Despite the feelings of worry and sadness which stalked Aurora constantly, she managed to plaster a laugh across her face whenever T-Dog joked around.

However, it wasn't until a few hours later that Aurora noticed the lack in people. Usually, everyone would be contributing to doing something, but the farm seem deserted.

"You reckon something happened with the barn?" T-Dog asked, now hurrying away from the fields they had been walking through.

"We would of heard it, wouldn't we?" Andrea retorted. The two glanced at Aurora for her input, and she sighed, staring at the farmhouse ahead of them. She spotted Glenn and Maggie together, and for a moment her heart stepped with jealousy.

"Ask Glenn and Maggie," Aurora suggested, gesturing towards them.

T-Dog nodded, picking up his pace so he was jogging towards the house.

"Do you know what's going on?" T-Dog shouted towards Glenn, who had stood up. Glenn's attention was on Aurora, despite T-Dog being the person speaking.

"Where is everyone?" Andrea added, coming to a halt in front of Glenn. It seemed like Aurora, Andrea, and T-Dog weren't the only people to notice this, as Daryl appeared from the other field, Carol following behind him.

"What the hell?" Daryl asked, looking around. Everybody was present except Rick, and Hershel. Aurora was aware that Rick was speaking to Hershel privately, but their disappearance wasn't settling.

"Rick told us he was going out," Carol murmured. Aurora examined the faces around her, mentally noting who was missing. Carl was sat on the porch bench, along with Patricia and Beth. Aurora's eyebrows furrowed at the realisation that Shane wasn't anywhere, either, and like what most would think, this wasn't a good sign.

"Dammit," Daryl cursed, how waving his hands around angrily, "ain't anybody taking this seriously? We got us a damn trail."

Daryl's angered shouts quietened down, and his eyes dropped the stern look when he saw Shane walking from the RV. In his hands, he held a bag of guns, which only made Aurora fear for the worst. And with Rick gone, so only hoped that she, or Andrea, or Daryl could talk some sense into whatever Shane saw as a solution to the walkers in the barn.

"Shane, what the hell?" Aurora shouted. Shane raised his eyebrow at Aurora, then pointed to her handgun.

"You with me?" Shane questioned. Aurora didn't have time to reply, as Shane had handed Daryl a shotgun and asked the same thing. Daryl nodded, and Aurora couldn't help but feeling more angry with Shane.

Aurora watched as Shane continued to pace around, handing guns to anybody who would accept the offer of killing the dead family relatives of Hershel. It reminded Aurora of someone in manic psychosis - someone like her with no medication.

"Look, it's one thing sitting around here picking daisies when we thought this place was supposed to be safe," Shane explained, "but now we know it ain't. How about you man, you gonna protect yours?"
