Chapter 16

Mele

I feel so empty, so cold, so......dead.

I sigh and walk to the window, staring out across the TSCH yard. I'm on the third floor, I've been moved to so many different rooms here but this is my favourite.

I see children are playing happily, the carers keeping a eye on everyone, well almost everyone.

I see Dean stick out his foot and making a younger boy fall.

Beyond the yard is the ocean, stormy and rough as today is wet and windy.

I stare at the sea as I do I see a faint silhouette of a boat rocking wildly, I rub my eyes and look again, but nothing is there.

I sigh again and sit cautiously on the window chair.

The waves on the ocean are wildly rising and the wind has picked up.

But for some reason, my mouth decides to make some noise.

I sing softly in sync with the howling wind. And there it is again....the boat swinging in the water, I hear screams and I'm transfixed on the sounds the whole time my song playing over in my head.

I then snap back to reality as I hear the sound of foots steps coming towards my room,

"No.....no.......yes?........well what do you think?"

Yep it's definitely Cale.

I hear the door push open, "Hey Mele, I've brought you some one to meet."

I turn in curiosity,

"Hiya, you must be Mele.........I'm Blake.......Cale's friend."

I look at the boy in confusion, "but I'm caleys friend" I say

He starts laughing, "Caley? Seriously Cale?"

Cale squirms a little, and I narrow my eyes at the boy.

"Cale doesn't like you, you make him feel bad.....you should be his best friend" I say in a voice I've heard Meredith use.

He laughs again but sees how serious I am and smiles at me "don't worry, Caley knows I'm just teasing"

I still don't like him that much but by the look on Cale's face, it must be true.

I suddenly don't feel I'm needed in this room, so I walk away from the window and out the door.

"Wait, Mele....MELE! Where are you going?" I hear Cale shout. Blake laughs as a loud clattering noise comes out of my room, well it's more like a giggle.....yes that's what I'll call him. Giggles.

I smile in satisfaction before running towards the toilet's, as I do I collide into a older girl who had just turned into the corridor, "Woah! Slow down there little girl" Her expression on her face is what my sister Selei would call 'priceless'. As she continues walking I hear her talk to her friends "why is it I always run into the retarded ones! She didn't even say sorry?!"

"Yeah but she's cute, who cares" the friend says.

"Speaking of cute" the First girl says.

"Hey have you girls seen a little girl?"

"Duh of course they've seen a little girl this place is crawling with them!"

"Oh shut up Blake!"

I sigh and push open the toilet door not wanting to hear the rest.

Cale

"Don't tell me to shut up!" Blake says with a dramatic voice obviously showing off to the girls in front of us.

I roll my eyes and focus back on the girls.

The taller of the two has short curly light brown hair which is just above her shoulders. She has sharp brown eyes and her smile makes me feel uneasy.

The other is almost the opposite she has hair the reaches halfway down her back, its a dark red but a natural colour, her eyes are like her hair only have a hint of blue.

"Sorry about that" I say in my most gentlemanly voice.

They giggle and look at each other.

"Is your girl small and has milky skin?"

The curly haired girl says.

"And does she have really cute curls that are to DIE for?"

The girl with the blue eyes says,

"You know some people say that my looks are to die for to" Blake says resting his hand on the notice board and staring deeply into the curly haired girls eyes.

She giggles and responds with, "I'll bet"

The other girl rolls her eyes and points to where the corner at the end of the corridor,

"I think she went to the toilets?"

"Ok thanks!" I say speeding down the corridor, only half way down do I realise Blake's not behind me. Turning around I grab Blake by the arm and hit him on the head lightly, "See ya ladies" I say dragging him in the direction of the toilets.

And we leave them giggling to them selves.

Selei

I sigh in frustration as it feels all of heavens eyes are on me,

"Are you sure Selei?" God asks

"Yes.....I'll go." I hear myself say.

Everyone beams and claps there hand, whistling and cheering as I stand there watching them all.

Tao comes up to me and whispers in my ear.

"I know you Selei, not like these people do, if you even try to abandon the mission on earth you realise you will be dragged back down to hell"

I snort at the word mission, "but if I succeed?" I ask

"That will be discussed later" he says coldly.

I huffed as he walked away staring into his back but I was soon pulled along with the excitement, forgetting any doubts.
