Chapter 26: Don't you dare

Cale

I sprung back from the push of the door, surprised by the force of her strength.

But as soon as my brain reacted, it was too late. She was already making her way down the stairs.

"Oh crap!" I say staring after her.

I knew what this meant.

"YOU WHAT!" Bellowed my boss, "Look she surprised me okay!"

I say trying my hardest to defend myself against his hard punches.

He stopped and looked at me in the eye, "oh, I see.......little Caley got scared! Well I'm sorry, but your task was to scare her not the other way round!"

I rolled my eyes

"Listen Cale, if everyone was scared by the shape shifters, the Evil toads would rule, which is why we have this job.......... to stop them"

I nod my head, "But we didn't lose her completely"

He looks at me, raising one eyebrow.

So I explain, "How do you think she knew something was wrong and that she had to get away"

This confuses him even more, "but you said she's only 6, and shapeshifters only get there ability to shift once there seven and three quarters, so she doesn't even know she's a shifter yet"

"Yes but it says in the book, in order too get them prepared for shifting, they start hearing the news of there fellow shifters once their 7th birthday"

"And who knows maybe she's just developed it early?"

He still looks confused "So she can hear the news, but can't shift?"

I nod my head, "And if she's heard the news, then were certain she's heard something about her sister....... the sister she thinks is dead, so where do you think she's going?"

After I say this his face breaks into A big smile.

I ran and ran and ran, but it wasn't until I was at least 4 corners away from the TSCH that I realised, I wasn't being followed.

Stopping to catch my breath I stared at the glowing rainbow on my hand, I wonder what it means. I know I'm a shape shifter and all, but no one never told me about any glowing rainbows. I never saw my mum having one.

Being reminded of my mum made me think about what I was actually doing... I was running away just like my mother and father. They both ran away when times got hard, leaving there children to fend for ourselves. Leaving me, on top of that boat, with blood streaming out of my brothers body as my mother and father swam away.

I was lucky, because I was only 2 they figured I wouldn't remember.

But I remember everything,

"Ok Mele, you be a good girl, mummy loves you" My mum says kissing my head, as she does she wisppears in my ear. "You better forget, or I will seriously regret not killing you, like we have done to your brother..... and who knows we can always come back, if you don't forget"

I blink, not really sure what to think. After all, does she really expect me to understand this, I think to myself.

"Come on Nara, lets leave" my dad says as he turns into a shark and starts to swim away.

My eyes grow bigger and bigger.

I have never been fond of the big creatures.

Watching them in fascination I her my mum say, "Are you sure there not going to be shifters when there older?"

My dad/shark turns to my mother, "I swear I gave them the injection before I left"

This surprises me even more, the fact he is talking Samoan while being a shark.

My memory goes a little fuzzy after this but I remember the body of my brother being dragged and ripped by sharks, only a little before, him telling me when I get back, to NEVER FORGET.

But I was too scared of my mother. So I faked it.

Realising now that something must have gone wrong with this injection, as I remember finding a laughing rat following me as I try to get away.

The rat had a faint glowing light around it.

I shook my head at the memory and continued running. Everynow and then looking back.

But I was unstoppable, and no one would dare cross me.

Or so I thought.

Sorry it's so late!!!!! I just haven't been exactly........ Motivated lately.
