Chapter 22

Mele

I awake with a jolt, my whole body lurches forward and my room lights up. Something's not right, something's different. I then hear the sound of the wind howling out side and I stare around my room trying to make out any shadows of murderers or robbers. I think I see one at the end of my bed and my eyes are fixated on the spot, daring it to move, but when it doesn't I relax slightly, however I don't feel comfortable in the dark anymore so I turn on the light.

Settling back down into my bed, I suddenly have this tingling feeling in my left hand, looking down I see a shape of a small rainbow glimmering and shining. What is happening, but before I can respond I hear the mighty roar of a creature that not even I know.

The light from my hands getting brighter and brighter and the wind has picked up. Another flash of lightning makes no difference to my already lit up room. The sound of evil laughing in my ears makes my head ring. "Stop" I mumble, but they keep laughing. "Stop!" I say louder looking around the room. "STOP" I shout, glaring at my empty room, Then the laughing disappears but a shadow of light stops out front of my door, "Mele.....Mele.....Tell us, go on" It says, "Just tell us where she is?" I put my hands over my ears and shut my eyes tight. "Come on Mele, tell us" I shake my head.

"Don't ignore us Mele, because we will find her" It says in a voice so terrible I start to shake. "Every one knows how to find her, it's through you"

"No I will find her" I say not too confident. "but by then it will be too late" The voice whispers in my ear.

Then I feel something's sharp claws wrap around my neck and start to shake me. I scream louder and louder but no ones coming. Why aren't they coming?

Looking at my bedside table I see a dark coloured book, with a title that says

Shapeshifters and me

I open the book as the claws have disappeared but when I do I hear the same sinister voice proclaim, "We don't care who we kill to find her Mele"

And then they stabbed me.

Cale

Thinking that they might want some privacy, I left uncle and Selei to talk. However there was something about Selei's behaviour before she walked in. Maybe it was the way her back went rigid, or how you could see her eyes picked up the slightest details in the room. Or maybe it was the way the glowing light on her left hand went from rainbow to a deep black within seconds. I have to admit the last one took me by surprise. And something told me she isn't who she says she is, but then again who is?

As I walk towards my bedroom I hear a loud scream come from one of the kids room. The scream continues and I walk down the corridor till I stop outside a door, it's Meles.

Slowly I turn the door handle and place my hand on my gun that is always hidden, another loud scream erupts out of the room and I burst in. My gun searching the room for something to shoot. I guess the boss was right, once you use a gun its almost like your attached and you have a urge to pull the trigger.

Seeing that nothing is there I put my gun back in its place and slowly walk over to Mele's bedside. Gently shaking her, she slowly wakes up. As she does I realise there are tears rolling down her face. "Shhh Mele, it's just a dream" I say brushing her hair as she gasp's for air.

I then feel a strong hand grab my arm and pulls close to Mele, it takes me a second to realise that it is Mele whose pulling me.

Gasping as she talks.

"Cale, there coming for her, there coming for me, there coming to kill. They will show no mercy, no love for me but they need her, they need her alive, but they need me dead, whatever you do protect her" She says staring into my eyes, I have no idea what she's talking about so I just nod. She sighs and rolls over facing the wall. I look at my hands and then look back at Mele. "Whose they, and whose she?" I ask.

She sighs again and rolls back over, "All you need to know is in this book, but I don't have it with me" she says, frowning. "Just tell me the name MM" I say a bit frustrated. She smiles a little and says "Impatience gets you only so far, all good things come to those who wait"

I smile a little but quickly stand up, "you tell me in the morning ok?" I say.

Smiling she turns to face the wall, with her cute little arms stretching she yawns, causing me to yawn to. "Goodnight Mele, sleep tight and don't let the vampires bite" I say with a chuckle.

Allthough she is incredibly difficult, she is also incredibly cute.

I bend down to kiss her head, but as I draw nearer to her head, I see a faint glowing light near her hand.

I quickly pull back my head and stare down, down at the glowing rainbow on her left hand.

Selei

I stare down at the dead....... I mean unconscious man on the floor. Sighing I sit down in the desk chair and slowly turn it round, letting my feet slide over the guys face every time I near it. "wheeeeee" I softly say.

But looking back down at the slimy frog like man who is called Filiki, I see that although he is a man who

A. Smells like a frog

B. Looks like a frog

C. Is mean to my little sister

I still think his totally breathtaking nephew shouldn't have to take care of him, himself.

So looking round to see if anyone is there I close my left hand tightly around itself and let the healing begin.

But as he is slowly waking up, my eye catches to a dark book on the shelf, my eyes widen as I read the title.

"Impossible" I say out loud.
