Chapter 23

Selei

I sit in the chair staring at the book in front of me. The dark edging around it looks so evil that any human would shiver in terror, but I know the truth to this book.

I know the many secrets inside, I know the rules of living by the book, I know the punishments of not. And most importantly I know that no human should ever come in contact with it, so why is it here.

I stare at the tied figure in front of me, he is trying to say something but the gag won't let him talk.

I stand and slowly walk towards him, sending him my iciest glare.

"You know who I am" I say, "You know what I'm capable of" I spit.

"So why do you doubt me, why do you tease me, leaving the book on the shelf" I fume towering over him.

Once again he try's to talk, rolling my eyes I slice the gag with a knife. and watch his eyes go from big to bigger.

He then starts to talk, "I knew it, I knew you were different! Wait if your a shapeshifter that means your sisters one too! Because that's the law or rule right? Oh my gosh, I have a shape shifter living in the TSCH! What do I do, I know lets take her to the sorceress! The sorceress is the best with this stuff, it says so in the book."

He finishes with a deep breath, "No one will be going to the sorceress, she is dead" I say with a roll of my eyes,

"But the book says-"

"The book is out of date!" I say watching a fly. "What we know on Shapeshifter's has changed since this book was written, remember page 54, thou shalt not kill" I say staring at Filiki, he nods "Just like the bible only for shape shifters, wait do we have the same God? What happens if you disobey that rule?"

"GONE, that rule is gone" I say, "In fact that one was gone 350 years ago, why else do you think people want to kill us, have us gone, they think we are a threat or that we have some sort of advantage at life therefore don't deserve to live"

"But your supposed to be dead, wiped out, extinct!" He stutters, "Well I guess someone didn't do their job" I say,

He looks confused.

"Have you heard of the Mestonaan's?" I ask, He nods his head "They were a group of highly trained assassins used only for killing shape shifters" he says proud of himself.

"Wrong" I say, "They are highly trained assassins still used to kill shape shifters, and they will stop at nothing to do so, they're the best at what they do"

"But if they're so good, how come shape shifters haven't died by now?" He asks,

I smile a big smile "It isn't the killing that they find hard, they have to find us first"

My breathing ragged as I run towards my uncles office, Peering in I see no one there.

'Crap' I think, I then see the space where the book was, I bite my lip in frustration and spin round looking for clues as to where she has gone.

You see I knew what Mele was talking about, I knew who 'they' are, and only till a couple of minutes ago did I know who 'she' was.

The girl in here 30 minutes ago, the pretty one with the same name as Meles sister, the one who is Meles sister, the one with the print on her hand I have seen so many times. The same print as the one on Meles hand.

The print of a shape shifter, a killer, deceiver, evilness.

Not only that, but a lier.

She is a trick and a lie

But a lier I think I'm falling for.

She's looking at me as If I'm the most stupidest person on earth, but I know what I'm talking about.

Yeah so the book might be out of date but at least I know the ground rules right? Wrong!

She acts as if anything I say is crap or manure. Well I can tell you for a fact I ain't no dirty talker.

I know more than she thinks, after all my nephew is the best trained assassin to know.

He is the mestonaan.
