Aleks knocked doubtfully on the door across from him, pressing his ear on the door to hear any sentence allowing him to enter.
After hearing nothing, he knocked again.
“Go away!”
He tried to open the door, but failed and realized Eddie had locked the door.
“Come on Eddie, please let me in,” he pleaded.
“I said go away!”
He sighed, “Please Eddie.”
He listened for another response, only receiving silence in return.
He groaned and went downstairs, deciding to let Sly calm down before asking him to let him in again so he could apologize.
He went to the Creature’s recording room to see James laughing at his own monitor.
He coughed, debating if he should interrupt whatever James was doing.
“Hey Aleks.”
“Hey. What are you doing?”
“Live streaming some Beyond Two Souls, want to join? I could use a Jodie; she’s pretty fucking boring to play as.”
“Uh, sure,” he agreed, oblivious to whoever this Jodie was.
Right before he got next to the streaming teen, James stopped him.
“Wait! Um, since the stream has a face cam, you should make yourself presentable, before the chat sees you,” James uttered, eyeing the top of his head, hinting at something.
Aleks looked at him, puzzled. Realization hit him as he remembered his ears.
“Oh yeah, give me a second,” he articulated, running up the stairs to get his blue beanie.
He grabbed it off his bed and walked out of the room, stopping momentarily at Eddie’s door before walking by; he wanted to make sure Eddie calmed down before he requested to enter again, chances were, if he didn’t, Sly would just get more angered.
He put the beanie on his head as he ran down the stairs, stuffing his tail in his hoodie as he got downstairs.
He sauntered to the computer room again and sat down next to James who was spinning on his desk chair, waiting for him.
“Sorry I took so long, man,” he jokingly apologized at James’ exaggerated impatient expression.
“Unprofessional,” the other accused.
“So, what do I do?” he questioned, taking a controller in his hands.
“First, you say hi to the chat, they don’t like it when you don’t do that.”
“Uh, hey ‘chat’.”
James pointed to the monitor next to the one where the game was paused, the one where the chat was and he read the rapidly moving text.
It was filled with comments like ‘Nova, who’s this dude?’, ‘Are you the same Alex from MCDaily?’ or ‘Alex you’re so hot! <3’.
He smiled at the recognition, “I’m ImmortalHD, same Aleks from SlyFox’s series. Thanks for all the complements, I guess. You’re all spelling my name wrong, by the way, but I don’t mind it that much; I’m used to it by now.”
“Then how the fuck is your name spelled?”
“A-l-e-k-s, I’m from Russia dude, there’s no ‘x’ bullshit there.”
“Is it short for Aleksander?”
“Yeah, spelled A-l-e-k-s-a-n-d-r.”
“You have a fucking weird name.”
“Thanks, really appreciate that. Anyways, what am I doing exactly?”
“Just do what the tutorial tells you, ‘Aleksandr’,” James explained, unpausing the game.
He rolled his eyes, “So, I’m the little girl?”
“Jodie, yeah.”
“And I’m doing some sort of test?”
“Well, with my help, but I guess this is some kind of test.”
“So where the fuck is you character?”
“I’m a ghost thing that’s connected to you, so I’m invisible.”
“Okay then,” he said skeptically, pressing the buttons the game instructed him to press.
After streaming for a good two hours, the stream ended with James and he promising more tomorrow. He looked at the time, 12:32. He walked upstairs, taking his beanie off and stuffing it into his pocket, stopping at Sly’s room again.
He took a deep breath and turned to Sly’s room instead of his. He knocked on the door again, only hearing silence in return.
He tried opening the door himself and, to his surprise, it worked; Eddie must have unlocked it during the stream for some reason.
He silently opened the door and poked his head in, only seeing Eddie wrapped in a blanket on his bed, facing away from him.
He entered the room and closed the door behind him, moving to the bed as quietly as he could manage.
He sat down on the edge and sighed.
“Look Eddie, I’m really sorry about earlier. I didn’t mean to sound like I didn’t care about you looking out for me; I just really didn’t want you to do something stupid because of me. If you got into a fight with the guys because of me, that would’ve awful.”
He breathed out a sigh, “I’m just… really sorry, okay? I honestly appreciate what you did, you made the guys realize just how closed minded they were being and, because of your giant rant, they don’t care about my ears, or tail.”
He was about to continue before he was stopped by a light snore. He moved slightly to get a better view of Eddie, who Aleks just realized had been sleeping during his whole speech.
He chuckled, muttering a ‘fuck you’ before apprehending that he still had to ask for forgiveness for his misunderstood ungratefulness, that he still had to say sorry and that Eddie had yet to accept his explanation.
He debated walking out now, leaving Eddie to his slumber and going to sleep himself and express regret in the morning.
He shook his head as if that would help him get rid of the thoughts that almost convinced him to leave. He gently shook Sly’s shoulder, trying to wake him up as pleasantly as possible; a grumpy Eddie wasn’t going to make apologizing any easier.
He paused shortly to see if it worked and continued a little more harshly when he saw it didn’t.
He stopped when he heard Sly mumble something, telling him to stop.
Eddie took the blanket off of his and sat up, rubbing his eyes, making him still oblivious to who he was.
“Hey.”
Eddie stopped rubbing his eyes and crossed them over his chest.
“Hey,” he grumbled.
