Oh, shut up!

Aleks tried his best to make his approach subtle enough for his apology to  not end with another argument; the last thing he wanted was for the situation to worsen. He looked into Eddie's eyes and he could've sworn he practically saw the annoyance burning in them. Because he had just woken up, Eddie's usual spikey hair was a mess and dark circles adorned his eyes, wearing a worn out purple t-shirt and used sweatpants as pajamas and his glasses were on the bedside table next to him. Even though he was still drowsy, his death stare didn't lack in conviction.

"What," the previously sleeping teenager demanded, his tone unmistakably riled.

He sat with his legs crossed in order to face his friend- well, if they were still friends at that point, he didn't even know anymore.

Eddie's annoyed glared still burned into him, looking at him up and down repeatedly, as if searching for any explanation in his movements. The longer his stare stayed on him the more nervous he got. He started fidgeting with his hands and looked at the sheets to avoid his gaze.

"Well?"

He let out a breath, running a hand through his brown locks in frustration. He couldn't think straight enough to form his apology with all the bad outcomes playing repeatedly in his mind. He gave up and settled on winging it.

He turned his head to face Eddie, immediately starting to say sorry before his nerve loosed to Sly's angered and unimpressed glower.

"Look Eddie, I'm sorry, alright? I didn't mean to sound ungrateful for what you were trying to do for me, I really didn't want to come off that way, at all. I'm really grateful for you defending me; it's just that... having you lose the friends that you're so lucky to have because of me, I'd feel awful. I didn't want you to do something stupid while you were mad that could make you get into a fight with them, so I just wanted to make sure you wouldn't. I'm really sorry, honest, but, I understand if you don't forgive me."

He felt his ears flatten against his hair at the thought; he really didn't want his first friendship to end this way, or for it to end at all, actually.

Eddie studied his depressed but considerate expression, as if he was making sure of the sincerity of his apology. Out of nowhere, he just sighed and uncrossed his arms from his chest and placed his head in his hands.

He groaned, "I'm such an idiot."

Aleks cocked an eyebrow, tilting his head to create his well-known bewildered face.

"What do you mean?"

"I'm the one who should be saying sorry, Aleks. I was so mad at the guys that I didn't realize what you were saying was to stop me from making a huge mistake so, at the time, what you said... hurt. I suddenly felt like you didn't want my help, like didn't need me to help you, and that was a first. Ever since preschool I was always that kid who helped everyone and anyone, the guy who everyone could go to for support and having you, a friend of mine, reject it... that kind of hit home."

Sly groaned again, pinching the bridge of his nose in frustration.

"I'm such an idiot," he repeated, his tone making him sound madder at himself than at Aleks.

"Hey!" Aleks started, trying to get the others attention.

Eddie looked up at him with a blank expression.

"You may be an idiot, but you're the guys' idiot and I won't let anyone, not even me, change that."

Sly's frown quickly shifted into an amused and grateful smile.

"Thanks Aleks, does this mean I'm forgiven?"

"Only if you forgive me too."

"Deal."
