All the Fucking Time

The week had passed by rather quickly, for Aleks at least. Soon enough, the Creatures were back at the house, using Friday evening as a good time to record TreeTopia, inviting Aleks to join in to which he hesitantly complied.

Something was making him uneasy, though. Eddie, who was one of the loudest and talkative people he had been lucky to meet, had been pretty silent and reserved during the entire day, barely speaking a word if anything at all. Even during the recording, all he would do was giggle ever so quietly at the jokes he found funny.

It worried him a lot, for some reason. Of course, Sly was a cherished friend of his but he just had… something. Something that made him different from all the other guys, something that made him nervous yet unbelievably happy at once, something so special he couldn’t even put his finger on what it was.

Perhaps it was his adorable giggles or cute half-smiles or maybe his blushes or accent. I could have also been his tan skin, his glasses or his spiky hair. Or maybe it was his kindness and generosity, his humour or charming reactions to teasing. Perhaps it was just Eddie being… well, Eddie.

He didn’t know what it was, but it did make his heart beat faster and a blush appear on his face every time he was around him. His tail kept wagging when Sly complimented him and he felt butterflies fly around in his stomach wildly. It didn’t annoy him though, quite the contrary, in fact.

Every time he tried to pinpoint what his emotions were, he always denied it. A crush? It wasn’t possible; he had only met Eddie less than a month ago, there was no way he could like someone he knew barely anything about.

It all seemed so obvious yet complicated at the same time. The fact that his feelings were a crush seemed to be a simple puzzle to solve but so many other dilemmas stemmed if he dared to complete it.

For one, the way Sly would react, if he actually told him, that is. It could be very positive, positive meaning the feeling was mutual, or negative, which could ultimately lead to a dreaded rejection and awkwardness in the friendship he treasured so much.

To ruin his first bond with his own feelings was the last thing he wanted. If he had a legitimate way of assuring no dent would appear in their closeness, he would definitely tell him with no hesitation.

Since it was still difficult to admit though, he kept quiet about his newly discovered crush and tried to keep it that way as long as he could.

He dismissed his thoughts and got up from his desk chair in the recording room, walking upstairs to knock on Sly’s bedroom door, where Seamus had informed him he was in shortly after Sly’s silent departure from the monitor-filled room.

“Come in,” he heard faintly from inside, opening the door and closing it behind him.

The first thing he saw was Eddie working on his personal computer intently and, for a second, he regretted interrupted him but the remorseful feeling left him once he remembered his intentions to enter.

“What’s up?” he questioned even though he was sure to get a short and vague response.

“Nothing, you?”

“Nothing.”

Silence took over as Sly only spun mindlessly with his desk chair with a smile. He chuckled and took a seat on the edge of his bed, which was fairly close to where Eddie was seated.

“Seriously though, what’s up?”

The other cocked up an eyebrow at the odd question, probably wondering why Aleks thought he needed to clarify himself.

“Nothing, why? Is there supposed to be something wrong?”

“Yes, well… no. Oh, I don’t know!”
